Boot locking itself

Featured Replies

I recently had a service performed at a VW Indy. Since then, I wonder if they've been messing with the ECU as I now have the oil service reminder on the dash which I didn't before and also I'm having trouble with the boot lock. If I unlock the car using the remote key the boot opens fine, but if I go for a drive the boot locks itself, no matter how many times I click unlock on the keyfob. The only way I can get the boot to open is to open a passenger door and the boot then unlocks itself. Is it simply the settings on the ECU/Convenience unit being messed with or is there a specific problem? Note the passenger doors don't automatically lock when going over a few mph like later Skodas I've been in - never have. So a side issue would be is it possible to change the settings so that the passengers do lock automatically at speed?

Cheers!

Bump, any thoughts as this is getting to be a real pain? I've since found that once the ignition has been activated, the boot will only unlock if the rear passenger door opens, it refuses to open if the driver's door opens. How strange! The boot remains locked for sometime after the end of the journey too, no matter how many times one clicks unlock on the key-fob. Bear in mind that I don't have a separate boot unlock button on the key-fob like I believe some later Skodas have.

Boot lock behaviour sounds almost normal.... Buttons on fob won't work when ignition on. Does the central locking "unlock" button on the driver's door unlock the boot?

Sounds not quite normal, pressing the unlock button on the key fob twice in quick succesion should unlock the drivers door then all the other doors and boot, depending on how the ECU has been set. You should have a manual unlocking button on the drivers door by the electric window switches (assuming you have them) if so could you give this a try and see what happens. Alternatively is there anyone near to you with a VCDS system who can look at the ECU and see what settings there are in the system and if there are any fault codes. You should be able to reset the service indicator your self by the way, should tell you in the handbook.
