Featured Replies

Steve at Rainworths dropped me a mail today about the above. They are £285. Sounds a bit expensive but their is VAT off that. Still decided to have 'em anyway if just to anoy the anti DRL brigate lol !

Don't forget to post some photos when you have them fitted

Will do but dont hold your breath..... Might not have the car until September :'(

Where do they fit on the Scout?

I thought it was just the vRS that had LED DRL's?

Are these now fitted to the Scout from new?

Thanks Les.

A £285 option seems a bit steep to replace a bulb for a few LED's!

Anyone know if these will likely to be able to be retrofitted to my 2008 pre-FL Scout?

I thought so too but what the hell. If I can have them fitted from the factory ....... I've had standard fogs on the last 2 cars i've owned and never had to use them. I guess if you could get hold of the LED lamp unit it should be pretty easy to fit them ?

Will the glass and reflector be different from the standard Scout foglight unit.

I'm not sure they'll be a straight swap.

DRL's are on all of the time and normally dim when you turn on the headlights so I guess some sort of additional software will be required?

Also if these are a direct replacement of the fogs then the second click and the markings on the headlight switch will change?

I agree, for the amount of times I've actually used /benefitted from the fogs I'd much prefer the bling effect of DRL's!

 Talking of DRL haters though.... I reccon Scout owners will be even more disadvantaged. I think the DRL's in the standard Octavia work along side the standard fog. Just an extra bulb I think. As the LED's replace the fogs they may create a frenzy of 'fog light' warnings. Perhaps even a tug or too by plod..... Will be interesting.

I've been looking to fit the DRL to my Octavia too - and whilst browsing around I found these:

Not sure on the legality of it all - I found the car lighting act on line and there does seem to be no maximum power. Also DRL by their selves have to be less than 400mm from the edge of the vehicle, if they are more than this they have to be ran with sidelights on too.

I have ended up modifying slightly the bumper and installing a pair of Ring Cruise LED's at around £35 and wired them too an ignition live with a fuse in the engine bay fuse box.

Hope this helps.

That makes me want to try and retrofit them to my pre-FL Scout even more... just to wind up the DRL haters!

Go for it !! Will you have to cut a hole in your bumper though ?

I'm pretty sure the fog light apertures are the same on my pre-FL as the latest FL Scouts.

I'll have to wait to see if they can be retrofitted but I doubt it will be as simple as slotting them in! :'(
