Subject: Octavia vRS Bluetooth

HI,

I have recently ordered an Octavia vRS Combi with GSM III Premium Bluetooth which is scheduled to be built in week 21.

I have become aware that a new bluetooth system will be installed as of week 22 as part of the MY11 revisions. Can you confirm if upgrading to this system will require the replacement of the bluetooth module or if it I will be able to upgrade to it via software update.

Kind Regards

Octaviaconvert

Looks like I'll have to either get rid of my iphone in september if Apple don't introduce RSAP into the iPhone 4.0 upgrade or shell out more cash on a fiscon unit.

On the plus side though, my car is being built this week

That is very annoying as I have an iphone, and based my decision to buy the car partly on the fact I would be able to use it.

I have also upgraded my L&K to have the MFSW whcih includes bluetooth.

I hope they have made a mistake.

Did you ask the dealer if it would work? If he said yes, get them to pay for the replacement bluetooth kit you're going to need or change the order to not include the bluetooth so you can get a different kit fitted

I wouldn't believe a word of it until one of the techies on here confirms that it's not possible :) I had 2 separate dealers tells me it wasn't possible to adjust the steering weight on my wife's Fabia. Bought myself a copy of VCDS and 10 minutes later it was done. Admittedly I didn't take the question to SUK but then why would I, when 2 dealers had told me the same thing?!

I suppose whatever happens I will leave the order as it is, as who knows how long I will have the iphone for.

Also, now that we are at week 22 I presume people will start getting their cars in about 4 weeks, and will post more on here.

Lets hope people on this forum know more than Skoda themselves do.

I didn't take the question to skoda Uk, they batted me off everytime I asked. I asked the question of Skoda head office

Well I would hope that Skoda HO would be the authority on this sort of thing, but I'd still be curious that it will be possible somehow. Just a matter of how many other components (if any) would need changing to make it work and whether the cost of doing so would make it unattractive compared to an aftermarket kit.

Where is the BT module in the latest models? I have the older pre-FL version and it's a separate module under the driver's seat. Is it now part of the Bolero, or an add-on module to the Bolero?

Seeing as RSAP is effectively a Nokia protocol and that Apple and Nokia are suing each other over all sorts of phone implementation issues I doubt very much that you will ever see RSAP in an iPhone.

RSAP is a good idea but it's lack of industry wide support makes me wonder why some car manufacturers still persist in using it rather than just going to generic Bluetooth.

It's still an add on module

Just change the BT module from 1Z0 035 730 to a 1Z0 035 729E, and the iphone will work! (GSM II)
