Liquid Gauge

Featured Replies

Seeing as it was payday today, and was going to buy a boost gauge thought what the flip! and splashed out on a Liquid Gauge from Sarah.

Now my only issue is i have been informed that the Octy ones wont work with the Fabia, so have ordered the Ibiza4 one and its not a square PCB :wonder:

So there goes my idea of mounting in place of the tray under the HU...

Does anyone know the diameter of the Ibiza mk4 vents?

Anyone have any idear where to mount it?

And!

As the ODBII port with have a big black plug sticking out of it, will i have to cut a hole out of the back of the Cubby tray(where the ODBII port is)?

The offending item in question below ;)

I made this for my Octy vRS out of a bit of scrap alli plate.......not sure if there would be enough room to fit that round PCB though.

Cheers again for the Photo Bill. your setup is sooo nice

That was my original idea, then Sarah informed me the octy one doesn't work with the Furby.... so im back to the drawing board.....

Buy some aluminium and custom make one? Im contemplating on playing with some aluminium sheets in the near future (custom air box). its not too costly at all, but maybe little time consuming.

BUt , if you look at the screen of the gauge , that is square too

So may work , but you NEED the Fabia specific one , that will NOT adjust

What do these liquid guages do? Seen them mentioned but never actually looked into it? Does it display boost pressure too like a boost guage?

please help guys...... :S

any mounting ideas welcome..... if need be i can get a photo of my Dash. ;)

Anything :( a silly mock up in paint. fully fleged photoshop anything?!!?

time and materials are not an issue, i can work with metal. i can use FG, i can rip the car apart as much as i need to Screw, Glue and bleed to get this to fit.

Please help

You could cut a square bit of metal out in the shape of one of you dash vents, cut a round bit out of the middle, and mount it on that then take all of the slats out of the vent and mount it in! Then run the cable though the vent and down behind the dash?

Basically the same as way as it would be mounted in an Audi TT, there is a guide to fitting it to a TT if you want me to find it?

failing that you could just get a LiquidCube i think its called?!

yea was thinking this its just the size of the PCB that may be my issue for replacing the Vent....

Dont like the Cube.... wanted sommin a little more tidy, my dash is already cluttered with a parrot kit.

dont know if i would need to start another thread but how do you remove the Center Air vents from a Fabia Vrs(the ones with the Hazard switch in the Center)?? :)

Only tool required is a butter knife to carefully pry it straight towards you until you can get a finger in along the edge.

The surrounding plastic is "rubbery" and fairly soft, so it has a little give in it. .

Steadily pull the entire unit towards you and it will pop out. The hazard switch has a plugged connector

which is easily removed, then the vent facia will then come free.

Before you start mounting it, I have a square one and it *definitely* works with the Fabia. All you have to do is select the diesel engine option.

Perhaps you can organise an exchange?

I've been working on my mounting solution yesterday - hope to have something to show very soon. I like how it's turning out... Way better than this, certainly:

It can simultaneously plot boost pressure and command pressure against time on a scrolling graph. I love that particular mode...

4th Gear - 4250ish RPM =

Well Spoke to RD, they are really helpfull!

My unit is going directly back to them today, and he is sending me a new one (square PCB)

He also informs me that with the development the Serial connector on the back of the unit had been removed for an RJ45.

This will make installation so much easyer!

158bhp.jpg

Just to clarify.. that's 158 bhp? Is your car stock?

4062501840_46dc50005a.jpg

^^ That's mine - stock!

(Although there has been some debate on here before as to how accurate it is.)

I've also managed to get the torque to peak at 277, while pulling hard in 5th from 60ish upwards...

From what i know it is stock :) Yea cos it is having to Calculate off the a couple of sensors the Diesel isnt 100%

That was peak in 4th, RR status is 3rd gear which reads 146BHP peak. so about right

New one in the post today. Square fit, can dash mount. will be looking smooth! B) (also will be ready to compare against AMDs RR on sunday)

DXG - Where have you wedged yours? seen that photo a few times but cant make out its location?

Edited by vRSsunroof

That's still duck taped to my sat nav...

I *hope* this Saturday to have at least a mock-up of the final position ready. It involves the central air vents...
