Featured Replies

hi guys, my next venture is going to have to be some kind of window tints B)

the munchkin is facing front and the new seat has no canope :wonder:

so im thinking some tints to keepy out the uv

i dunno if i want dark - dark

maybe darker - say 35% on the rear half and the 70% on the front due to laws

or if the 70% still show a slight tint, whack it all round

if you got pics and know what you got please feel free to flash me :giggle:

shade before limo on rear and light smoke front

the problem you have is if you test a standard front octy window it is only just over 70% standard so any tint on the front will make it illegal

cheers guys

:D i do like them bbs too

choices choices :smirk:

the law is just mean

dark window illegel

speeding illegel

robbing people for money to buy cool things illegel

its just not on :giggle:

Like westallc said, normal front window glass is roughly 78% using a tintman which is what the police use to test the visible light transmission. Putting anything else on the fronts will obviously put it below the legal limit so you run the risk of a fine or having to take them out. Your choice.

if you get caught the fine is £60 +3 points+ removal at roadside

You sure? As far as im aware it a non endorsable offence, as its classed as glass not conforming so only £30.

yep it is i know for the wrong reasons lol

the black vrs is furry's and westallc is corrrect £60 +3 points and then roadside removal if not road side a producer is givin, where u have to take the vehicle for a re mot and then take documents to the police station to prove tints have been removed. my brother and his mate have been done both on the same night :giggle:

Yeap that's my bad boy lol

mine have Been on since 2002 when the car was new.

If yr stopped they can put a prohibition notice on the car which means you will have to have it recovered to yr nearest vosa station where they will check it and remove the order.

Ok then, next question:

On the rear can you go really dark without a problem? How much is it? And how do you avoid it looking gash/peeling/bubbling etc?

on the bk doors and rear window there is no limit, you can go as dark as you want. (but risk it lookin like a van :giggle: ) a proffessional will charge between £120-£150 and if you use a decent one you wont get any bubbles/creases but try it yourself and you may well end up with some  its a right t**t to do

Fronts are 50%, rear doors are 35%, rear windows are 20%

Have you considered the sunshade blinds advertised on ebay by the company in Mansfield, We find them very good . If you would like to see them fitted then send me a pm . Just off Wells Road BS4

Here's mine i have 35% light smoke on the rears and 15% smoke on the back window.

Sorry just a side view fronts are standard! vr002.jpg

cheers guys  could be thinking just get the 50% on the back half so then the oem will be just abit lighter on the front :smirk: and no points or fines

One more for the collection.

Regarding fronts, on here they are 25% and were legal when fitted 7 years ago, is it my fault that the law has since changed - how does it apply retrospectively? Beside I think the measurement of light transmission is completely flawed, standard glass without any tint (by which I mean OEM tint) will not transmit 100% light, so what's the basis for the prescribed minimum permissible light transmission level? Any law types care to answer?

As a rough estimation, I'd suggest I can easily see a vehicle approaching in the dark with lights on over a mile away were I waiting to pull out at a junction on a straight flat road; I can see streetlights and all sorts from the Isle of Wight to Gosport across the Solent which is 4 miles :giggle:

Dark limo tints on fronts are stupid but very light smokes don't in my opinion present a hazard, but if deemed so by law mkers then surely driving with suglasses must also be a danger and so should be banned B).

Bit off topic, but those wheels look sweet Leeboy!

Did they come that colour or did you get them painted? It's the first yellow octy I've seen with graphite wheels!
