218bhp as standard !

Featured Replies

Had my new VRS petrol estate for 2 weeks now, its my 2nd one now and still loving it. Had it custom remapped by a company called torquetronix last week and it's now got 270bhp and loads more torque so is needless to say very very impressive. Anyway the reason for the post is to say that when mine was on the dyno before the remap it had 218bhp as standard, the guys there recon thats quite normal on these latest generation VAG engines. Whats more it had only done a few hundred miles then so these figures should improve as the engine loosens up.

It just makes it even easier to really annoy these Audi, BMW and Merc drivers lol

PS how annoying is all this volcanic dust crap, I need to clean my car twice a week now, or is that just being obsesive.

I've read a few articles about the Fabia VRS and aparently they gain around 10-15% BHP once run in, strange but no complaints here. But as yours is new, it's a little strange dont'cha think hehe.

270HP, very nice :D a few more mods would see you closer to the 300BHP mark.. OOoohhh I'm a little jealous

:giggle: dont think im being rude but im going to have to rain on your parade here.

there is absolutely no way your vRS with just a remap is reaching 270hp with a remap.

on a std car, on a GOOD rolling road will see your car get around 197-205Hp.

on a car with no mods other than a stage 1 remap you will see in the region 235-245Hp with 250-275Ibft of torque.

a stage 2 remap along with an exhaust system and performance induction kit will see you in the region of 250-260Hp with 260-300Ibft of torque.

To get the 270Hp you will need all of the following. An uprated HPFP, Air intake, exhaust, intercooler and a stage 2+ remap.

I know this as i have been there before with my own car.. my car has since been stripped back to standard an is now just running a stage 1 remap, and it is making around 240Hp.

some rolling roads over read massively, and id say the one you went is one of these.

stage 1 remap wi

Oh and as for the Volcanic dust, it hasn't affected me, my car is always cleaner than I am

My PD 105 put out 120 bhp before remapping and again the guy doing the tuning said it was pretty normal, though mine was on the high side of what was expected. It looks like VW work on the basis that the worst engine in any batch they make will still make the stated power output...

i would say you have fallen for the dyno lottery lol

270 stage 1 i dont think so look at other people mk2 and like si says he has had stage 2 + and just made that lol

another 1 has fallen to the look at what we can get you on our rollers lol go and get it on some other rollers im sure you will be dissapointed big time

Don't want to **** on your parade too much, but the high figures could be down to an optimistic dyno...

On the subject of cleaning it twice a week, I wouldn't say it was obsessive but maybe a waste of effort?

If the paint is well cared for (polished, waxed and free of surface contaminants) and you don't go rallying or manage to get it silly dirty, then you could get away with wiping it down with quick detailer and a soft microfibre cloth mid-week.

Here's what I do and find it works quite well...

  • Give it a full detail once every 6 months (wash, remove surface contaminants, remove defects and then apply a good quality wax)
  • Top up the wax once every 2-3 months
  • Wash once a week with a high quality wax-safe shampoo
  • Mid-week (and when necessary), when the weather is like it is now I tend to use a quick detail spray and soft cloth and just wipe down the panels to remove the dust and bring back the shine. You can't really do this though if the car has anything more than a fine layer of dust or you will scratch the paint.

not quite as annoying as the pollen we have at the momentemoticon-0136-giggle.gif

Another apology mate but I have to agree with the comments regarding the dyno! My tuning has said don't bother with dynos as they can be grossly misleading. In any case, its not about figures and more about the real experience which a dyno obviously can not replicate.

I was told to expect 230-235bhp from my stage 1, and my god did I feel the difference from standard!

LPKLPKLPK - I wasn't going to post but thought i should. As others have said you won't have 270bhp from just a remap

I am currently at Stage 2+ on my Petrol vRS and have invested a considerable sum of money tuning my car (getting on now for £8k) Whilst i'm no expert i reckon i have a good idea of what im talking about.

I have Approx 282bhp & 331lb/ft according to data logging with the following mods (that will gain you performance)

REVO Stage 2+ Code

Full Miltek Turbo back Exhaust

Neuspeed Turbo Outlet Pipe

Autotech High Pressure Fuel Pump Internals

EVOMS Cold Air Induction Kit

S3 Intercooler

You will see around 240-245bhp and about 270ish lb/ft from just a Remap.

Your probably a victim of a no. of things (Bad Dyno Operator, Over enthusiastic figure quotes, Bad Dyno)

I have seen literally hundreds of cars go on RR and i have never ever seen a car make the Tuner's Claim with JUST a remap alone. The most accurate tuner for claims about there software that i have seen is Ben @ SharkPerformance.

At the end of the day the numbers you are given are for waving your willy in a pub and doing the old my dad is bigger than your dad scenario.

As long as YOU are happy with how the car performs then that is all that matters.

Obviously everyone is assuming he is talking about a TFSI engine and not TSI :giggle:

Nope :p

A TSi won't get that from just a remap alone either

I know that guys but you need to remember that some dynos are more generous with their numbers than others....

The age old story. :D

I saw it. :p

All over-rated anyway. V6 power ftmfw.

You have 2 more cylinders and another 1.2 litres of displacement over me and I'll still show you a clean set of tailpipes :p

Won't sound anywhere near as good at full chat though :'( :'( :'(

Almost all rolling roads are optimistic and not many are properly calibrated.

Just because a readout or graph shows some fantanstic output doesn't mean to say it's accurate.

All that glitters is not gold !

Not in the snow you wont :giggle:

I can drive thanks :p

Plus I would just make sure I was in front of you to start so if i did struggle you still couldn't get past :p

You most certainly have not rained on my parrade, It was not a rolling road as anyone with any sense knows these are not recommended for 200bhp+ due to the risk of the car coming off. It was done on a DYNAPACK HUB DYNO which the car hubs are bolted to. Not going to argue about the figures it does not put me up or down either way. PS the same DYNAPACK HUB DYNO also gave a reading of 147bhp for a standard 150bhp vectra SRI so not reading high at all :p

Hmm well I have seen cars with over 600bhp go on a RR

Plus my car has been on one about 30 times and never had a problem. They do strap them down you know

Anyway as long as your happy with it that's all that matters

270bhp!!! lol As long as you are happy

Neal, who are you ordering your car through?

Does anyone remember the fabia vrs with 270bhp with the standard injectors and clutch, The same guy mapped that as well. Need I say more.
