Fans getting excited in reverse?

Featured Replies

Hey guys, only just thought about this long enough to ask but, when I put my fabia into reverse (1.4mpi on a W) if the fans are on at all, they get much much louder and when I take it out of reverse again they quieten back down. This happens every time I'm in reverse if it's just for a second or if I'm reversing up my drive for longer. The noise sounds like an extra fan running, comes from the passengers front footwell and afaik is the same noise you get when you hit the recirculate button on the heater controls.

Wondered if it was a common problem/easy fix or not. It's not causing me any trouble apart from it's starting to bug me.

Cheers in advance, Pete.

Its the recirc mode coming into play to stop fumes coming into the car and choking you/killing you

If you press the recirc mode button you'll hear the same thing.

It's normal, the fans go into recirc mode to prevent exhaust fumes from being sucked into the car. Covered in the manual.

Oh awesome :)

at the moment I'm worried about every little noise the car makes so that's put my mind at rest. Sadly I don't have an owners manual otherwise i would have had a look.

Cheers for clearing that up guys

You can grab it off the skoda website. Have a look through all the pinned topic stuff at the top of the Fabia I forum. Saves the questions/your worries/concerns/lack of manual

£8 + VAT from a dealership if you want a printed one. :)
