Bolero Tech query.

Featured Replies

Having recently got my new Octy, I wonder if anyone out there knows the intimate workings of the Bolero?

Seems that if you put a CD in, the title and tracks should come up in script on the touch screen display. Mine doesn't and I have tried various new and recent CD's.

I've explored the menus and I found the 'Deactivate artist/script' in set up. Switching this makes no difference.

Anyone else had this or knows the answer?

Is this only true of MP3 CD's?

If its a branded CD, you need to have a look on the back for the little compact disc icon and compatible ones will say "CD text". Otherwise yes it is only true of MP3, WMA and AAC

Thanks, but I've looked at loads of my recent CD's, but I can't spot 'CD Text' on the back of any of the discs. The discs I've tried so far all work on my PC - ie. the computer can read the titles etc.

I'm puzzled why the Bolero can't. Just to add to the fun, I gather that when a dealer gets a new car in stock, he has to plug it in to the garage computer and tell everything in the car to work. I'm wondering if that's the problem?

Hope nobody drops an atom bomb - none of our cars will ever wok again (EMP)

The computer will read the titles as it is connected to the internet and feeds the info for the CD from the internet. If you try a CD you have never put in your computer before while it is not connected to the net it wont bring up the titles etc

Your 'puter is probably looking up the disc and tracks on t'internet via CDDB or similar.

.....Yep, only works on a few CD's sadly.

If you make copies of your discs via I tunes or Real Player

And select CD text.

Then your Bolero will display the information when using the copies

Hi all

Nero will also let you enter CD Text on any audio CD's that you burn. CD Text on official audio CD's is very hit and miss I'm afraid. I have a Lightning Seeds Greatest Hits CD from 2000 which has it but very few CD's since then have it although the Cherry Red label and it's offshoots have it as standard. None of them state CD Text on the case. It's only because I have a Marantz CD player that supports it I know that CD Text exists.

Cheers

Jonno

Thanks for the info guys. Dealer now tells me that some CD's display text etc., some don't. He doesn't know the explanation.
