Has anyone fitted an aerial mast from the new Polo to their Fabia yet?

Had a close look at a new Polo today and the bases seem identical but the mast was much shorter and looked pretty neat. I wonder if it would support full reception etc in the way some of the other fitted ones S2000 and new Citroen DS3 apparently don't?

Looks better IMO, almost exactly the same, just a few inches shorter!

If an aerial is shorter ,in theory it will be less sensitive, in practise I doubt whether you would notice any difference. The way to find out is to tune in a distant medium wave station ,and see if you notice any difference by changing aerials.

Changing the mast for a shorter version does impair signals received, FM is least affected but AM is much weaker. I've seen dozens of different masts on VAG cars from the originals and it's all a matter of which you prefer. There is only two screw sizes on all the masts I have seen so the choice is vast.

Don't forget - There is a difference between physical mast lenth and actual arial length.

The arial is wound around the mast - the new polo and ibiza have shorter masts but identical arial length.

Just throw one on off a ep3 civic job done!

To be honest I've never tried listening to any AM stations since I changed the aerial over so therefore couldn't say! Sorry...

However FM stations are still the same!
