COOLING FAN

Featured Replies

Hi, my skoda 1.9 tdi, on an "04" plate, 130 000 miles - the cooling fan stays on all the time when I am driving. The temp gauge is normal and it is not overheating. As soon as I turn the key off, the fan turns off. What could be the problem. I have read some forums where the problem has been the fan keeps running after the engine is shut down and the key turned off. Mine is having a different problem, the cooling fan only comes on when the key is turned on.

Do you have air-con?

you will have two fans behind the radiator One is for the air con/climate control which will run whilst you have it switched on . Try running the engine with air con off or climate control on economy and see what happens.

How do you know they are on ?

Unless you were under the bonnet you would not know if they are on or not !

Radiotwo

I can hear the fans sometime when stopped in traffic and sometimes I can hear them spinning down after I stop the engine (They're on a thermostat, so they can still turn on with the engine off), but I've never been able to tell they're on while driving.

I rinse my radiator from outside every now and then. Tap pressure and hose works great. Bigger pressure is bad for radiator. There might be dust and dead insect in radiator.
