Different tyre brands - front to rear. Discuss?

Featured Replies

I know it might make 1/10 of a second difference on a race track but in the real world, would it matter.

Assuming both axles have the same type and age of tyre and that all the tyres are a decent brand to start with i.e. not Michelin PS2s on the front and Kwik Fit budget Ditch Finders on the back.

Steve

As you say it shouldn't really matter, as long as they are all decent brands.

However, some tyres display considerable difference between their dry and wet grip. I had Bridgestones on the front and Yokos on the rear, in the dry fine, in the wet I span the car because the Yokos wet grip was crap.

It's all irrelevant now as I have won the argument with my Lease Company.

They weren't going to let me have Pilot sports on the front of the car, but as I type, the Kwik fit man is fitting PS3s :D
