Yes, i've had a busy morning:D

I've just cancelled my Direct Line insurance... They wanted around

MoreThan tried the same stunt with this year's Home & Contents cover.

They quoted

Yep thats always going to be the way, insurance resign themselves to accept it. Your 'new' business so they want you, plus you sometu=imes get online discounts!

I didn't bother to call them just bought it there and then' date=' either its 'their' mistake or they were trying to rip me off in the first place.[/quote']

Is it the same policy number? otherwise you could end up with two policies as they will automatically continue the old one.

Not necessarily true...depends on the company.

MoreThan only renew with your permission.

They sent me a couple of reminders with the old policy No. on them after i "changed" my house insurance :)

I think it also depends on how you pay, ie direct debit they will continue to take the money.

The moral of that story is don't give them continuous access to your bank account ;)

they'd be lucky to get any money out of there. But If you pay by Credit card they've still got access to those details.

When clicking through the payment screens, there is an option to automatically renew each year. You have to tell them not to renew if you select that option.

Obviously, i didn't:D

Policy through the post today, different policy number. Also asking for proof of no claims:rofl:

"Right hand, meet Left hand" springs to mind:D

Then don't use an insurer that renews by default.

Easy :)

Actually they could get into trouble for this keeping silent business. If you did that in most businesses "I'll do this unless I hear from you" you'd find that the legal system would laugh in your face. Silence is no reason. To continue your policy they should need you to say yes to them.

Rather depends Colin.

If there's a "continuous authority" agreement hidden within the small print when you take out a policy, then you don't have a leg to stand on.

If people don't read the small print then it's tough.
