Engine out job.......

Featured Replies

I've been advised that my car needs a new Brake servo unit.... well, I think thats what they said !

Now, they say its an engine out job and I'm just wondering if there is anything that is worth replacing while they do this, or if its just

a waste of money...... Car is now 5 and a bit years old and done almost 90k so I'm thinking clutch, DMF.....

Thankfully the warranty is picking up the bill..... 9-10 hour job :-O

[Victor Meldrew] I DO NOT BELIEVE IT!!! Why, in the name of sanity do you need to remove the engine in order to get the servo out? [/end]

I'd think about the cambelt, since half that job's being done anyway, but you'll probably find that the engine and box are both coming out together, so would still need splitting to even get at the clutch and flywheel.

Haha engine out to change a brake servo?!?!

Either they are wrong and blowing smoke up your behind, or some Skoda/VW engineer needs sacking.

I have never heard of this before on any car, ever!

Is this a Skoda dealer garage or an indy? What's actually wrong with the servo/brakes?

I was a bit surprised when they told me the engine had to come out !

Its being done at a main dealer, but to be fair they themselves quoted 3hrs labour, the warranty company wanted confirmation from Skoda uk,

and it was them that advised engine out and 9-10 hours....

Not really fussed,so long as its fixed....

Symptoms were the front brakes binding on.... they say there was an air leak, which would (could) cause it... found it while trying to bleed the brakes.
