I've just been told by a dealer that there will be no 1.2 DSG Demonstrators - they are only built to order.

Anybody know any different?

Anybody know of a dealer with a 1.2 DSG demonstrator?

Committed to letting SWMBO try one before we buy as we will be coming down to one car now I'm retireing and she will be driving it most (and whatever we get must be an automatic).

I must have been very lucky, I found a Dealer near one of my customers in Sussex where they had both manual and DSG 1.2s available - both S spec if memory serves.

I went on to buy a diesel SE as the peculiar whistling sound made by the 1.2 engine ruled it out for me - but it may not worry you.

There is a dealer in Dorset who had an unsold 1.2 DSG earlier in the week. He may let you try that.

I'm in Wiltshire not Sussex, I just happened to visit a customer down there when i was pondering the Yeti.

No luck in getting a response from a dealer in Dorset, but it wouldn't have made much difference, both the wife and I have been unwell for the last fortnight.

However, if anybody spots a 1.2 DSG demo vehicle within reasonable travelling time of Bristol, please let me know.

Think I'm going to have to be very patient on this one and wait until the delivery backlog has been reduced significantly.

I read somewhere that they are going increase production in January 2011 after moving Roomster production to another plant.

At least I'm not after a panoramic sunroof :(

Simpsons at Great Yarmouth are a nice bunch. My wife's ex demo Roomster came from them and if I'd ordered a new Yeti rather than my ex demo, I would probably have gone via them despite them being a little way up the East coast from me.

It is a bit of a hike from South Lincolnshire though. I'd give Darren their sales guy a ring before travelling, just to make sure that it's on site and not out as a loan car for the day.

Simpsons at Great Yarmouth are a nice bunch.

Would agree from my experience with Simpsons.

I bought my last Octavia (ex demo) from them; would get a call annually from the salesman (Howard) just to check if all was well with the car, even though they knew I lived to far away to have it serviced there.

bought my Yeti from Howard at Simpsons it was a demo ,it looked fantastic in the showroom when I collected it. my second demo from them. I like to buy demos because hopefully any niggles will be sorted by the time i purchase. Good company to deal with they are skoda dealer of the year ,I believe they have had this accolade before. If you do ring Howard just say the guy who bought the red Yeti demo recomended you,I might get a cheap service or something, just remembered mine is rattle free , Demo are not allowed to rattle !!!!!!

Frustrated by not being able to get to 1.2 TSI DSG Yeti demonstrators that have been reported or adverts that have appeared in Aototrader etc, I've contacted Skoda UK to ask if they can tell me which dealers have got demonstrators.

It will be interesting to see if they even bother to reply, and impressive if they know who has got what, especially if the dealer still has it when I follow it up.

If they respond I'll let you know the result.

Did a test drive in their Blue Yeti 1.2 TSI DSG SE today and was well impressed with it.

Seemed slightly quieter than my Octavia Estate in terms of road noise and much quieter than the 2L PD engine.

DSG very smooth with no noticeable hesitation on slow approaches to roundabouts and accelerating around them without stopping.

Was surprised how quickly it changed up through the gears to 7th.

Will have to do some serious thinking now!

I have a Elegance 4x4 auto and have only seen 6 gears so far??? but maybe I'm not speeding enough

Macdemon- The diesel DSGs have 6 gears (unless it's a 1.6CR DSG on an Octavia) and all the petrol DSGs (bar the 3.6 Superb) now have 7 speed DSGs.

It's to do with the extra torque the larger diesel engine produces, the 7 speed gearbox has twin dry clutches where as the 6 speed has twin wet clutches and I suspect the dry clutches may overheat if they are subjected to the torque of the 2.0TDi engines. I think the limit of the 7 speed gearbox is 280Nm.
