another fuse to find out?

Featured Replies

Hi

Thanks to big K I got my #10 fuse changed which brought back my radio working how it should... Trouble is when I kill the power and remove the key from the ignition, the internal light STILL does not come on until I open the door... (which can be a pain sometimes) Is there another fuse that could have popped which would delay the coming on of the internal light until I opened the door? The way I am normally, it would not be surprising if there was another blown one somewhere. ;)

All other car's workings are going A1 at the moment!

Which position is the slidey switch in for the courtesy light? Seem to remember mine got moved (into the middle position?!) and started doing something similar......... :)

How did you manage to blow the fuses? were you wiring your ICE up with the battery connected? ;)

ahem, yes I was - I thought I could get the ISOs right first time ;) . The light switch is set to come on when doors open - leaving on the middle means its off 100% of the time, and to the right means it's on 100% of the time, I think.

I just seem to remember the light DID come on as soon as the key came out the ignition.

Yeah it should come on when you take the keys out, it works off what is known as the 's' contact in the ignition switch. Thing is if that breaks usually the CDL packs up as it thinks the keys are still in.

Lol, i thought you would have known better ;)

I might be wrong but i thought it had potential to stuff up the old ECU when wiring up with the bat connected?

Thanks Ross - I was hoping changing the good ole #10 would cure it but there is something else clearly amiss, not that its affecting the driving of the car... may see my garage about this s-contact then.

Sorry to bring this thread from the dead, as much as i laughed at Devonutopia for not disconnecting the battery, in my rush to test my hew HU this morning i did exactly the same thing :(

What number fuse in the internal door light ?

Cheers

Sorry for ;)

The internal light one was #10. But oddly enough, since doing mine the internal light STILL doesn't come on when I remove the ignition key. something's wrong the s-contact itself according to Ross last time I remember seeing anything... Its a minor annoyance in that I have to open my car door before being able to see inside the car when I park up at night. :(

False alarm, it turns out my sister had switched the light off :D

Its all good and the HU is working fine.
