What battery?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just a quickie, been having a lot of false alarms with the car when it's just parked up.

I reckon a new battery may sort it, I think that because the car isn't used 6 days a week

it's run itself to a low ebb and is triggering a voltage drop alarm??

I have had a mooch on fleabay and have come up with this....

Anybody have one of these? Man enough for the job?

Varta Heavy Duty Battery.

Hi grr

The varta is a good make, so I would assume it is ok.

But fitting a new battery will not cure your problem, if you are leaving it for six days at a time, even with a new battery it will do the same, I suspect

charging the old battery will cure the problem any way !

Yeah my fabia vrs had a new battery just over a year ago! Was obly used every weekend or every second weekend!! Ive now fitted a new batt again and its sorted now :8 make sure u get one with 680 amp starting current

Also had a thought if it starts all the time its unlikely to be the battery! Mines ran flat all the time daily for a period of a month and no alarm going off

maybe your interior motion sensor

I have one of these - http://www.boschbatteries.co.uk/Products/BOSCH-SILVER-PLUS-S5008-096-12V-HEAVY-DUTY-CAR-BATTERY.html

Never missed a beat.

77AH and 780a

Is the fabia only on an 067 size battery ? - The ibiza has an 096 size battery

Difference is the height - 067 battery is 175mm tall. 096 battery is 190mm tall

Thanks all for your input

That Bosch unit looks a mighty beastie... Massive cranking power too

I may have one of those as I've always liked Bosch products.

I would prefer to buy a Hoppecke unit if I could get one, truth be known.

I've had these on a couple of different cars and found them to be excellent.

Never had to charge one once fitted. Never not started with one fitted.

The place I used to buy them from doesn't seem to do them anymore and

when I google it I seem to find lots of German sites...

Also they are usually green B) If I could get my hands on one of these I'd be

well happy.

I am still a little unsure of the size I need.

I've seen 2 types listed for the Fabia TDI :wonder:

Also I didn't mention my car still has the original battery on it ( 54reg 72k )

I've also noticed the headlights flickering when I turn the power steering or use the electric windows. :dull:

I reckon she deserves a replacement... I reckon this one is well past its best.

Quickest way is to measure the current one fitted.

067 battery = 278L x 175W x 175H

096 battery = 278L x 175W x 190H

maybe your interior motion sensor

I have a small (1") Darth Vader Charm thingy hanging from my rear view mirror.

It swings about when the car is moving but obviously when the car is parked it is still....

Could it really be interference from the Dark Side?? Would that set it off?

Its an 096 you need iirc some places list the wrong battery and starting current ats was one of them !!!!

  • 2 years later...

Don't suppose we have a conclusion on which size is best? Does anyone have 096 in their car and it fits?

I thought the 096 was the battery fitted to earlier Fabia vRS's - perhaps I'm wrong...
