Dell Streak, Android users delight...

Featured Replies

I had a play with the new Dell Streak this week. What a lovely gadget. Not 100% sure that it is small enough to be a phone, but boy am I tempted. I am not usually a fan of touchscreen keyboards, but the one on the streak is big enough.

What do we gadget freaks reckon?

I'll watch with interest. AFAIK, it's supposed to be more an iPad rival, than something you'd use for phoning (unless with a Bluetooth headset if it has phone capability?)

Had a play with some iPads this week. Nice bit of kit, no doubt, but I wouldn't spend my hard earned on one...

It is very much a phone. You can use it with or without bluetooth, so versatile enough. The way I am seeing it is more like a portable version of an ipad but with phone built in.

Keeping an eye on the HTC Evo 4 as well.

I think its too big to be a consumer phone... although it may find a niche as a semi-business type device for people with breifcases etc..

However i will be interested when the android tablets arrive... i think one of those could give the ipad a good kicking quite easily!

I thought it was nice enough, but far too big to be a useful phone, Also I'm not far too used to htc sense on v2.1 to go back to using the stock android screen.

Kind of academic for the time being. TMobile want an arm and leg for me to hop out of my contract 6 months early. Will replace in January by which time the Streak will be on later android system and other stuff may have hit the market too. Will have to make a wooden mock up and carry it around for a few days to see if it gets on my wick or if I can live with the size.

The EVO 4 is unlikely to come to the UK as it's primarily designed for use on the US telecom co. Sprints 4G network, something that we don't have and are unlikely to get for some considerable time bearing in mind that the current mobile networks seriously overbid for the operation of the 3G network.

Video calling is seldom used as they charge too much for it 60ppm on average. Nah not for me.

I was reading up on the Evo 4 and it looks like US only for the time being anyway. Different 3G band in the US and no 4G here yet, so the streak is still top of the pile for me. Just got to wait a few months.
