Lowering springs

Featured Replies

So, i'm going to take the plung into lowering the car. As i'm not really bothered about having it touching the floor, i've decided to go for springs + standard dampers with the understanding that i may have to change the dampers at some point in the future. Anyways, there seems to be a few different options - any advice on if there's really much difference between them?

Any advice on which ones, is there going to be a difference between the FK and Apex ones? is it worth me just going for the cheap ones, or anyone know of any other places i can look for them?

best option eibach lowering springs! Cheapest you will source them is awesome gti! These work well with oem dampers as they are progressive! They will lower your vrs 25mm :) or non vrs 40mm!! Plus there black so retain oem look for insurance purposes ;)

at £50 ish they seem dirt cheap compared to eibachs at 140 ish....dont know how they compare tho... :wonder:

Yeh, that was what I was thinking. Whether there is going to be a noticable difference between the two, if if the difference is only going to be noticed at track days etc (which is something my tdi is unlikley to get to do) ;)

Cheap springs..... Bounce bounce bounce.... Did i say bounce?

yeah 3 times.. ;)

yeah 3 times.. emoticon-0105-wink.gif

4 actually emoticon-0136-giggle.gif ....emoticon-0148-yes.gif

lol :)

They might be ok but re-bound will be awful and your shocks will die too!

I'm safe going for the Eibach ones tho?

I've been looking at the FK ones too. I'm not bothered about ride comfort, more worried about shocks life expectancy if I was to fit them?

YES!!!!

they tend to go hand in hand the more comfortable and less bouncy the better to comfort and life expectancy of the shocks

Eibach's. All that needs to be said

Hi,

Would these be the ones you would recommend for a 1.9 TDi PD100?

Thanks!

The Eibach's are a very good choice and also seem to work well with both standard and uprated dampers.

When I look at my Car from the side it looks like there is a larger gap at the front compared to the back. Is this normal or is it saying the back end is knackered?!

So these would go on my TDi 100 with the original dampers and no other parts? Or even a different make?

You can't really judge by that as could depend on what the rear was lowered to as well as archs?

In some cases i've seen where the driver side front had a smaller gap than the passenger side and vice versa. A very small difference but apparently this is normal?

I've lowered mine with pi sports springs cheap second hand on ebay (less than 1 new standard spring) when standards shattered at 56K driving slowly onto my drive hmmf. The ride feels fine to me but haven't felt ebachs to compare, doesn't feel bouncy just less ridiculously high but I have noticed my inside tyres are wearing faster so think about using shorter or adjustable stability bars as I think this should sort it, I saw something about ford ones being a bit shorter but I may be talking rubbish.
