Electric boot and parcel shelf - how does it work

Featured Replies

Hi

I'm just about to order a Superb Estate and was wondering if anybody can tell me how the parcel shelf works with the electric boot option?

In the brochure it says that it automatically retracts when the boot is open. Does it then automatically cover the load space again when the boot is closed or do you have to pull it across manually.

Also how does the height adjustment work for how far it opens?

I'd like the parcel shelf to be fully automatic as it is on the likes of the new BMW 5 series and E-class

I've tried asking the local dealer and they don't know. Also E-mailed Skoda via their web site and no reply. Also rang Customer Services and they said they were just after sales and to go and ask the dealer!

No

No, The cover on the superb has 2 stops. It stops at the mid-way point when boot begins to open.

It will not cover it's self back up. It must be manually pulled back, or manually released to go to fully-retracted.

(and the lid is awfully slow! - i couldn't be bothered to wait! - so didn't order it on mine... )

It is slow. BUT you can press the button and then you grab your whatever and the boot will close while you go away.

This is true... but for £500, i would rather give it a pull as, ensuring it was shut... What happens if something is in the way, just as you've turned the corner and cant see the car any more? (as the lady with the Lexus RX did in Sainsbury's Car Park the other day?!)

500 Pound?

605 euro and no discount? Wow! I paid 327 Euro.

One neat thing about the electric boot is that once you open the tailgate (lid), you can lower or raise the final opening height to suit your height by pressing and holding the button in the lid to set the height for future openings - in other words, it is possible to set the memory. I think it can also be done in the configuration options of the car's computer system. The dealer demonstrated this feature as I have a very short wife and it would be pretty useless to have the lid always opening to its maximum height where she can't reach the button to lower the lid
