Top Gear Lifers

Featured Replies

Postie dropped Julys Top Gear magazine through the letterbox this morning and our Snow Monster is a new lifer for the next 6 months.....

Summary so far....great first impression, they like the boot space/ flexibilty and its living up to its 'award winning' status!

Great, what model do they have?

2.0 TDI 110 2wd elegance.....in silver

July's Car Magazine arrived today - they have a red diesel Yeti 2.0 SE as a long term test and so far like it. They say in approval that 'Feels posh like an Audi" and downside - rides like one too. I would half agree, having had one to trade in for the Yeti, it's not as firm, as the seats are not as solid making it more comfortable and the yeti has better handling than my A4. They're getting 42.6 mpg.

Looks like Skoda are really pushing the Yeti now they will be seen on the streets more, what's the point of over-marketing a car that's so rarely seen in the flesh? Now two of the top car magazines have long term tests and some of the back orders will be delivered you will start getting the Yeti noticed.

It will be interesting if any of the long termers develop negative comments, none in any of the press so far, just in other threads here.

Autocar did mention the 32 mpg their 1.2 DSG was getting but also mentioned how it felt much bigger engined than it was on the motorway.

Don't forget that Diesel Car has a 2.0 TDi 140 4x4 on long term test - started this month.

Follow up next month is a visit to the factory to see the build.

Maybe we'll get a glimpse of the petrol engine production line as well?
