mk1 octavia vrs work windows off the key buttons

Featured Replies

this has probably been covered before but i was wondering whether i can use the key buttons to control the windows on a mk1 octy vrs.also what other things can i reprogramme using vagcom.so far i have had the unlocking changed so 1 click opens just the drivers door and 2 clicks for the others.i didnt bother with the anti hijacking as i use the button on the car door to lock it.i also had the seatbelt light and warning noise turned off but really i just want to know what is possible to improve what is already there. thanks

You cannot program the windows using vcds, only through a program called vds pro.

Where are you Chris?

There are quite a few good guys all over the country who can do this for you.

Are there?

Anyone in the Surrey area willing to do the auto open/close for a beer/pat on the back?

I didn't know that many people were using VDS Pro :dull:

Manchester's a bloody big city! :giggle:

I'm only 30 minutes from the Trafford Centre.

Can you actually do this on the MK1, you can get it to work with the key in the door but to get it work off the remote has usually required the installation of an aftermarket product to get remote window open/close. Certainly it was not possible on my 2001 vRS, it required an aftermarket alarm for me to get that function.

99% certain the CCM will be of the same type as used in Mk4 Golfs, as they are very similar. There were a few used but they're all do-able. Did a Mk1 Octy a few years ago, as far as I can remember! Done hundreds on Mk4's!

It's a case of editing the necessary values in the CCM's EEPROM, which is very easy once you know what you're doing. But there are horror stories of folk getting it wrong and causing problems, including the windows travelling in the opposite direction when locked/unlocked!

its a bit far.what diagnostics can do this i have had vcds beta hooked up to it but it couldnt do the windows off the fob.

As Bertee said, you need VDS Pro.

And a laptop with a serial port.

And a suitable lead.

And a bit more brains than VCDS requires.

Absolutely not!

Just a lot more involved than twiddly bits with VCDS.

im only joking.thanks for the replies.do you happen to know anyone around the manchester area who has vds pro and is there anything else it can do to improve the vrs.thanks

I didn't think that many people have or know how to use VDS Pro.

It needs and old-ish laptop running DOS and a serial port, the software and a lead that will work (not all serial to OBD will)

But it would be handy if someone has got it locally/within 50 or so miles.

There are products you can buy to do this. I have an Alientech window controller.

There's really no need for it though, as it can be done in 5 minutes with a laptop.

Bertee - I know a guy down your way but he's turned out to be a bit of a bugger. Shafted a good mate of mine and therefore wouldn't recommend him.

I'll see if I can come up with someone else for you.

Gareth.

Nice one, cheers mate

If either of you have VCDS, post the part number of your CCM (46).

I know mine can be done, I have vds pro and somewhere I have a serial-> OBD lead so I had a look at CCM to make sure it could be done.

I'm at work at the mo but I have it at home so I'll let you know

Happy to talk you through it if you need any help.

There are a couple of problems, I need to find this lead (and hope it works) and I need to dig out a laptop with a serial port (I have a couple in the loft but not sure if they work).

I have a feeling I gave the lead to someone because I got a USB one and I cannot think who I gave it too :dull:
