Bought the Girlfriend a Polo...

Featured Replies

This week I part-ex'd my girl friends Sport KA SE. It was a good car, however way to thirsty for her and starting to rust under the fuel cap and under the seals :o Shocking for a 2003 which has only 40k on the clock.

I bought a '2000 VW Polo 1.4

1 Lady owner who part-ex'd it in a VW for a brand new polo. Its mint bar the hub caps and a small scrape on the bumper. Its done 31,000 !!! and has 7 main dealer service stamps !!

I've already started to look at a couple of upgrades for her, GTi wheels & Grille? only subtle. What the most common modifications on these?

More pictures please.

Thats all I have at the moment mate. Only picked her up yesterday.

It's like a brand new car inside. Hardly been touched! I'll get some more photos tomorrow.

Most people seem to buy ones like that, then fit them out with everything so they look like the GTi. Badges, grilles, front and rear splitters and spoliers, front fogs, grille piping, wheels, black interior mirror and glary HID kits.

Other than that, seems to be smoothing the bump strips out of the bumper, lowering and wheels of some sort.

Looks like a good buy though - just make sure the rear wiper pipe doesn't burst in the winter - it takes all the boot eletrinics with it. Is it the 8v or 16v?

http://www.tigerstyle.co.uk/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=13 - might be quite useful. Not as busy as this site, but most things seem to be answered etc.

I bet it's Mint

I'll get me coat.

It must of been a long day at work for me last night as I didn't get it...! I woke up this morning and re-read your post and burst out laughing! lol.

Thanks for that. The grille and fogs lights sound like a cheap and cheerful mod. I'll have a scout on the bay. From reading various posts on that forum the wirings already there for the fog lights?

Seeing at it'll be owned by a girl, why waste you money. She won't notice, or care, anyway. Unless you paint it pink.

I used to have the very same car, albeit in "Evergreen"- pukeworthy. It was a brilliant motor you should get a good few more years out of it at that mileage.

I remember Sony made a 6 disc CD changer which was specially compatible with the VW head unit in that car so that's the first mod I did. Things have moved on since then though, lol.

Wheels and suspension are an easy enough mod to do and make an instant impact. Depends what route you want to go with it and how deep your pockets are.

Is it an S, SE, or 16v Sport?

I think so - but never looked as mine had them standard. At any rate - it'll look better with them in, and rarely need to be used anyway.

Lose the blue sidelights ;)

I'd start by just giving it a good clean inside and out and a polish and wax for some protection.

After that, I'd probably just leave it for a few months until you're happy it is all right, and then if it is think about what to do.

Just one slightly more mundane thing to check; cambelt (if it has one . . .). With a low mileage car, it's possible it has been overlooked, despite the age limit on them.

Tight polneck jumper, and black&white hound's tooth tweed miniskirt - Oh, wait, did you mean for the car, not the GF?

Nice buy! alls i would say is a nice set of BBS and a little lower.

mabie a tint on the rear and you have a lush little car

Looks nice, I've just bought a Polo myself, seeing as the dealer sold the Octy I was looking at!
