1.2 TSi DSG

Featured Replies

I'm interested in one of these but cannot find anyone who has a DSG car I can test drive! anyone got their hands on one yet and what are they like?

Well, the TSI engine itself is brilliant, very punchy! I haven't tried the DSG box, but from reviews and videos of them in action, it has extremely fast and smooth shifts.

Honest John has a review of the Polo 1.2tsi (manual but still a good review of the engine).

I viewed a video on Youtube last night - Auto Week were driving a manual 1.2TSi Fabia (English subtitles so easy to follow!). Nice colour - it's what we have on order (red with white roof).

I think Carrs Skoda in Cornwall have one but it is a long way to drive!

You could try getting a test drive in an Ocatvia or Yeti with the 1.2TSI engine with the DSG box to see what the box is like?

Could not get a test drive in a DSG anywhere local, despite trying five dealers! :'(

I would have had a drive in a yeti, roomster or whatever but no DSG in the North East!

I was a bit concerned the 1.2 TSi may be heavier on fuel than the official figures so in the end I opted for the Diesel, as I know what they are like.

Perhaps I need to change my user name now?

One thing I must say is I got an excellent deal at Silbury Skoda so can recommend them

No it's a 105 TDI CR Elegance Manual. Raided the options list to the tune almost a grand!

They don't do a Diesel DSG! If they did I'd gone for that, I really fancied the DSG box.

I contacted Skoda GB at the weekend asking about the availability of a Diesel DSG, they replied tonight! saying it was not available at present. Must admit I was a little disappointed in their response time

Given the TDI's torque and flexibility, you probably won't be changing gears that often!

TBH, considering the mileage you will be covering each year, the diesel is the better choice. I can get high 40's from my TSI so far, I think I could get the average over 50 if I really go all-out for economy. The diesel will hit 55mpg+ without even thinking about it.

I will likely do 8k miles each year, so petrol is the better choice for me.
