mountney steering wheel boss?

Featured Replies

Another question! Now then, my dad has an old mountney steering wheel I want to fit onto my pick up. There is no mounting boss with the wheel and mountney dont list one for a skoda. They do however list many other options (mostly older cars pre 1990ish) anyone tried ti fit an older vw or porsche steering wheel to a felicia? Is the diameter of the steering column fairly standard on european cars? Basically my question is: which mountney boss do I need to buy to fit the classic steering wheel to my pick up?

Mountney used to do one (or someone like that did, anyway) - I had a similar wheel in my Favorit rally car, and have seen others in Felicias too. A bit of searching, I think....

the boss will be the same as a vw one. the mk3 polo, late mk2 golfs, mk3 golfs all share the same spline. (in the 80s/90s vw used 2 different sizes, commonly known in the vag scene as large spline and small spline, imaginative!) anyway if you remove you steering wheel you may find that your rack is small spline, but with a large spline adaptor fitted over the top. this can be removed using a bearing puller and allows you to use a small spline boss (these are easier to find for the old style mountney wheels which have a large pcd compared with the hole spacing on a lot of new wheels (including mountey ones which now have the same size pcd as momo steering wheels)

just had a look on ebay and they only seem to do the boss for the old style mountneys in small spline.

as far as i know the spline on the passat is no different to any othe vw from the 80s, but i'll let you decide if you want to risk buying it, as its a bit cheaper for some reason.

I believe some Felicias were fitted with steering wheels from the VW parts bin - not sure if they used an adapter or not.
