how to reset service light (inspec) on fabia vrs se

Featured Replies

From the User manual of my car. ( MK 1 , 04 fABIA 1.4tdi- and it works for me)

Resetting Service Interval Display

Models with fixed service intervals ( Which I am informed by resident Techs on here is norm for ALL Fabias).

Switch off ign. Press the reset button of trip indicator distance driven and hold it down.

Switching on the ign causes a service interval to appear in the display.

Holding the reset button down for 10 secs will cause counter to be reset( the display shows ____)

And then the trip counter readout)

The readout OIL will appear in the display after resetting the indicator INSP and releasing the reset button when both service indicators( INSP & OIL) were reached together.

Repress the reset button and hold it down for 10 secs to also reset this interval .

BUT- in case any Fabias have an extended service interval.

Switch off ign. Press the reset button of trip indicator distance driven and hold it down.

Switch on ign and release the reset button .Now turn the reset button to right. All counters will be reset to 0.

( I remember seeing that doing a manual reset on variable service  will revert vehicle to fixed service intervals, so before resetting a variable, it might be wise to find out ).

Wino re oil indication. I always thought that it was as per normal cars- yellow if low and red if abnormally low. However a post on here some time ago left me baffled as it seemed that the sensor only monitored the temperature of oil on two levels. I await your findings. However in over 50 years of driving and car work, I find that the Fabia oil dipstick is the hardest to read out of all of the many vehicles I've driven.

Looking at title of post ,OP says Fbia vrs SE- was this a MK1, or has OP posted in wrong mark forum.

  • The PDF version of the manual I have gives a different procedure to that stated on the RDF attachment above: It is also possible for you to reset the Service Interval Display with the reset button as

  • You press and HOLD the speedo reset button then turn on the ignition Hold for ten secs DONE National

  • Wino, I always find your posts fascinating, mate. You go to a whole new level on geek when it comes to electrical diagnoses lol (I mean that in a positive way)   As an aside, DRG's method works wel

My autel obd reader let's me reset the service intervals, it also allows me change the various intervals.

The manual hold in trip button method works on most cars.

It is also possible for you to reset the Service Interval Display with the reset button as follows:

• Press the reset button with the ignition switched off and and hold it down.

• Switch the ignition on, release the reset button and and [sic] turn the reset button to the right. All counters will be reset to 0.

It is only possible to reset the Service Interval Display, if a service message or at least a pre-warning is shown on the display of the instrument cluster.

However my 2004vRS had five services though at only two was the warning showing before going in - and the garage correctly reset the indicator every time...

This one worked for me when nothing else would nice one!
