Featured Replies

hi all i was told that it very rare to have a 4x4 hatchback in octy most of them were eastes but i wanted to knw how many ppl have them on here mine one is ex essex police in blue the onli down side i can say is it dosnt have a airel

i have one in dark metalic blue and its a hatchback

I've seen 1 silver one (in a golf club near me) and 2 blue ones (TrevorB33's L&K and Suze's Elegance), I think the hatch is a bit rarer than the estate.

There are 8 for sale on Autotrader at the moment.

Along similar lines, what years were they made? I think the newest ones I've seen have been 52 plate

I run around in my silver 4x4 octy hatch, mines an 02 plate.

mines a 51 plate

mine is a silver hatch and a 51 plate but I had the opposite problem when I was looking for one, as I wanted an estate and couldn't find one?

edit: it was only a month after I bought mine that a certain Black estate was up for sale and I have since missed out on it twice again. RIP the Beast :-(

Saw one in leeds before buying the vrs, had quite a few on auto trader when i was looking, more so than vrs's under £3000

Mine is a metallic dark green hatchback on a 51 plate. I remember there were a few for sale in the region through Autotrader when I was looking for one.

There's 9 for sale on auto trader at the moment in the uk and 3 on ebay :p

Seemed to have more when i was looking a couple of months back tho :S

trevors is not a 4x4, he states hes happy with 250+hp frontwheel drive

Good spot, I thought it was for some reason!

I always liked the 4x4 Turbo Octavia. In many ways I prefer them to the MKI vRS, 80% of the pace but with more traction and stability. Plus it has more Q-car factor to it, and the 4x4 Turbo badge is pretty cool...

Had one of these rare hatchbacks for just over 3 years, regrettably I traded it in for an Octavia II TDI PD 140. Missed the haldex 4x4, so quickly traded that in for a Golf 4motion TDI 140. Now running a Monster B)

Still think the 4x4 Turbo was probably one of the best cars made by Skoda to date :)

I think that Skoda UK imported a batch of RHD Hatchbacks and Estates in 2001 but then didn't spend much if anything advertising them and as a result they were slow to sell. My 2002 Estate came off the production line in July 2001 and was first registered by a Skoda dealer in March 2002. I have no idea where it was stored between those 2 dates but it showed no signs of having been stood in the open. I totally agree with what James says above. I removed the ginormous 4X4 sticker in the rear window early on and replace the 4X4Turbo badge on the boot with a 1.4 16V one (there is no such beast!). A Jabba remap has transformed the performance - which wasn't bad in the first place - and I have no idea what I will replace the car with when it eventually has to go. I rarely see a Hatchback version and the Estate is quite rare too.

I have to agree, I have thought a lot about what to replace it with when the time comes and apart from an S3 (still a hatch, still 4x4, and a bit warmer than the Octy) an A3 1.8T Quattro or another Octy 4x4 there doesn't seem to be much else? I would love an S3 but I think the Octy draws less unfavourable attention and is great for the element of surprise :D

hence why i choose this as a base for my sleeper ;)

I was considering a 4x4 before i brought my vrs, the only things that put me off were the high ride height and the slightly higher fuel consumption.

Same here, when I changed cars a couple of years ago I looked at the Audi A3 1.8T quattro and the Octy 4x4 and when I found the fuel consumption was worse than the VRS yet the VRS was 30bhp more as standard that kind of sealed the deal

luckly those things where not an issuse for me as im going lower on coilovers and fitting a bigger turbo anyway B)

I did think about the fuel consumption but as I was looking to convert to LPG anyway the 4x4 was more than worth the fewer MPG. I am regularly getting 30 brim to brim fully loaded with kit and driving like it should be with the remap. next on the list is a 3"DP and decat, will free up some more horses and should improve economy a bit as well, after that I am looking for twin IC from a TT/S3/cupraR. Just small things that I will be doing as cheaply as possible as it is a tool for work at the end of the day.

what turbo route you going? Garrett, IHI, K04?

ko4, then i will hybrid it, ill be building it for strength and reliability so some nice bits in it but nothing like a gt30 just yet..........

asi ts a daily it is nothing too exciting but enough to worry some more expensive metal around B)
