Tyre wear on Scout and drive bias

Featured Replies

Help needed.

I have had 2 sets of new tyres (Dunlop SP1) fitted to my Scout.

The rears have only done 14000 miles each time with the fronts being a little better.

Is this normal?

Second point- I would have thought the intelligent 4x4 system would give a bias to front wheel drive yet my tyre wear seems to contradict this.

Would really appreciate some advice.

20,000 on my rears and still life left in them - have you have the tracking etc checked?

22,000 on both fronts and rears with 2 -3 mm left when I changed mine...

About 20,000 miles and no problems at all with Dunlop SP1's.

I always keep my tires on max allowed pressure and check the pressure at least monthly.

I changed mine at 32,000 miles... All pretty even.

Many thanks Guys.

Very helpful. I have had the tracking checked and all is OK. The wear seems even on each tyre so not sure where to go from here but I will try another set as grip wise they seem very good.

Best Regards

Glyn

Have had Kuhmo Ecsta fitted to mine now. Will see how they go, £91 a corner fitted which didn't seem bad, plus they're quieter than the Dunlops.

What pressure are you running with?

What pressure are you running with?

2.2 front and rear.

Mine came with 2.5 both ends, thought i have a heavy net weight 1,645 kg.

I use 2.5 front and 3.0 rear. Better road performance, fuel saving and longer lifetime for my tires
