vRS V Focus Titanium tdi

Featured Replies

this isn't a race thread but someone at work appears to want me make it that way. She has ditched her citreon c2 and isgetting a Focus Titanium 1,8 diesel which apparently is 120bhp?

she has not stopped talking about it and telling everyone at work it comes with ST alloys, satnav and aircon. She then asked me if my car was better than hers (she knows im into cars). I told her that I would not swap my car for hers. She asked me why not. I told her i've owned fords before and havent been that impressed plus my vRS is probably quicker than hers...its 170-180bhp with about 280lb/ft torque(she asked..i didnt volunteer the info) I told her that too me over taking ability and economy, reliability are the main things i look for as well as being quite exclusive.

I thought i was being diplomatic but she said well what about standard before the remap? so i said even standard my vRS at 141bhp (dyno'd) is going to be quicker. She then wanted to know if she got hers remapped would it be as quick as mine. i said very unlikely because as far as I know the lump in hers won't be as tuneable as mine? i told her diplomatically all i'm interested in is torque, reliability etc and not into sat navs or high tech gadgets so my vRS suits me fine and wouldn't swap it for anything apart from maybe another VAG diesel.

I am not interested in entertaining this conversation further with someone who thinks servicing their car every 2 years is OK and doesn't know the difference between bhp and torque.(i didnt say it but was thinking it) She then started rubbishing the Skoda/VAG brand saying hers was a Ford and therefore "well known"

what are your opinions on the Focus titanium 1.8 diesel?

I do think this is quite weird the conversation she initiated with me. I'm like the most quietest guy there is and not into willy waving.

The 1.8 diesel engine in the Focus is the same engine that powered Noahs ark, it is ancient!

It makes 115bhp and is made out of pig iron, she should have bought one with either the 1.6 or 2.0 as these engines are shared with PSA and are fairly efficient.

A woman AND a ford.... Where would you like me to start? emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

F O R D = Fix Or Repair Daily

Enough said - haha

Lol women! My gf recons her mini cooper is gna be faster than my hybrid fabia lol

Afternoon Newskoda

She has probably got you on the handling front unless you have had your VRS modifed, but engine wise nope she hasnt a chance the Ford is heavy the engine is old and was carried over with some modification from the MK1 Focus. The 1.6 is a better engine with almost the same power but better MPG.

Quite like the new RS though :p

She wont shut up about it. several hours later she is still going on about it.

I told her make sure you tell them to update the maps on your satnav because its going to be 4 years out of date. Then came the "confused look" :S

Which Focus shell? One of the mk1 TDCis is one of the very few "normal" cars to have smoked me on the A82 when I was running my usual "I drive at 60<cough>mph and anyone who wishes to overtake me is perfectly at liberty to do so".

Rule no1) Never argue with a woman simply because it will never end :giggle: or you will just end up making her cry..

On a serious note you dont have to justify yourself to her, just tell her if I ever see you around (a track) il let my vrs do the talking, & no its not a threat just a promise

Maybe she fancies you and this is her attempt at starting a conversation.

No doubt the ST wheels will be kerbed to fook within 5 mins then!!!

Whats wrong with it?

Bet it is around the corners too :p

FWIW I've driven a focus 1.8 TDCI and it does remap well and drive very well both standard and with a tuning box on.

The PD engines are not all things to all people, and even more so when you put the suspension set up on the Fabia vRS in with it, plus the short wheel base, with all the weight over the nose.

So what if it's an iron block, many engines are.

I think you'd be surprised how well a focus MK II (or even a MK I) will do. It certainly handles a lot better on the stock suspension than the fabia/octavia.

I think they have probably each got their advantages.

i will see you and raise you my mate who knows very little about cars/engines but trys to blag his way but not very well even once said "oh look that car has a front exit exhuast" (induction pipe mounted into the bumper rofl) any way he owns a 125cc scooter  he keeps on at me that his scooter is quicker than my car off the line and to 60mph :giggle: for months hes gone on and on about it and we met at a BBQ this weekend after which he decided to follow me back to my house after a few traffic lights and a several faces full of sut he didnt mention it ROFL bless him he trys

I had a Focus ST and it was awesome handling, the mpg was terrible however and the car was mahoooosive! im sure an arctic had a smaller turning circle!

oh and i have kw coilovers so not much chance of catching me, oh and £1500 worth of Brembo GT kit to make sure i dont get embarrassed

got a lowly 1.8 mk1 Zetec sat outside and I honest'y don't see fitting some KW (v1's?) coilovers to my Ibiza taking up the slack in the handling, it's a fricking chasm. although the hybrid turbo and AP's might help the Ibiza make a big enough gap before any corners :D

our Focus is a far nicer car to drive but with double the power the Ibiza is most probably quicker on the road (provided you can use the power) . 2.0 TDCI mk2.5, mapped to similar number to a mapped vRS? winner

yup v1's it isn't too bad now, i am pretty confident with it, know its limits etc :) its quite fun actually

what's the ride like? not too harsh or bouncy? currently considering something for the Ibiza

well i've had vmaxx coilovers on my last fabia

the v1's however are in a different league,

Not too harsh and not bouncy at all!! i would say similar to standard but no roll at all round corners! also feels so planted on the road!!

Truly awesome!!

Hi,

Bit of an update...for the last few days have been subjected to what i perceive as totally uncalled for behaviour by said person. Everyday she has been shouting in the office to everyone "I'M GETTING A NEW CAR" and making steering wheel hand gestures. She has told even the window cleaner.

today she took a day off and has come in specially to work to show off her car to everyone here. I went out to have a quick look at it and i said very politely it's very nice! her reaction was "well its nicer than yours".

I politely replied "yes it is"

ever since she's been talking about getting it she has been saying things like this. I really dont know what is wrong with her mentally. I've only been working for this company 2 months and dont even know her that well. Why has she targetted me?

Someone even said yesterday that she'll probably end up curbing her alloys by the weekend.

Its obvious she wants to hump you

Yeah dude... she wants you to put a bun in her oven.... :D

Then she can jack in work and YOU can pay for her crappy Focus. :p
