yuck no way. She's horrible.

I would never have expected behaviour like that from a woman tbh. Its like my one is bigger than yours etc. Weird. I thought most people grow out of that once they leave school...obviously not in her case.

my best course of action is not to compete hence why my reply was "yes its nicer than mine" (referring to her car)

However i have a suspicion she wont back down.

I wouldn't even with yours mate.

Its obvious she wants to hump you

Haha.. too true.. ;)

newskoda - think u need to get her onto a different topic cos shes obviously pulling on a sensitive string, otherwise soon she'll reel you in on a regretful drunken night if your not careful . women nowadays.. :p

She's obviously very excited to get a new car that's not rubbish.

As it's diesel she's singled you and your Nice lil Furby out as the most direct competition in the work place car park.

If she can show you and your Furby up then she'll have proven to her self that her car is the best.. This is obviously important to her, she may just be quite materialistic.

Try asking her really technical stuff that you know you best her on.. don't make out your cars better.. but just subtlety demonstrate theres more to a nice car then ST alloys and SatNav. e.g. I bet hers is a 5 speed..

P.S. She wants you! :giggle:

thanks, i have shown her up a few times. I mentioned about the maps on inbuilt sat navs being out of date and possibly need re-flashing. She looked confused.

And yes it is a 5 speed.

I am happy knowing my remapped vRS will eat it for breakfast.Even standard it will.

Never met anyone like this before. She has some issues me thinks.

I think you have done the right thing with your responses. Seems like she is justifying herself and using your car as a comparison.

You have been polite and just left her to it, some people who have some kind of inferiority complexes will just harp on until they get attention and can justify what they have.

As your new to the office id just let it ride, others must know what she is like and probably just ignore it.

You could do what I did to my Dad the other day when he mocked me (in jest)..

Dad: Blah blah blah Your Skoda.. haha!

Me: So what did TopGear say when your car was on it?

Dad: They've never had my car on it...????

Me: Ohh, Ohhh...Really??.. cuz they quite liked mine!..... HA!

I do quite like having a model of car that's been round the track.. even if it wasn't timed!

Yeah, you could arm your self with a full common faults knowledge and then just *know* about them as they happen.. HA!

"Oh, has it? Yeah, I've heard that's quite common.. prob means X Y & Z are on the way out too"

Actually.. That's mean.. just ignore her! lol.

but yes, just ignore her. we have some similar people at work.

theres a guy with a mk4 golf 1.6, he thinks his is quicker :(

next thing you know she'll be on FFOC, slating both you and your car...

IMO this is all very cruel. Not necessarily the OP, the rest of us.

To the OP, what's the mood in the office? Are people happy for her but hope she'll stop whittering on soon or are they ready to light torches under focii?

In which case, do you want to be lead torch holder or in the bunch? Wouldn't do to be the sole persecutor though. Bad news in an office environment.

BTW from trawling the net, a remap will give her 135-140 BHP. So that's something like a 13-15% improvement.

One suggestion...

these posts are rather amusing! i have tried to remain polite throughout my conversation with said person. :)

I suspect in 2 months time her car would never have been washed, the alloys will be mucky and she wont get it serviced like her last car.

That remap on the focus is poor. Not as mappable then as our beloved PD130's then?

My friend has the Focus Tit 1.8 and we have had this discussion several times. It wasnt the typical silly "mines faster thans yours", we both just wondered which would be the quicker car. Both took them on a track day and i can easily say the vRS one quite easily, just kept pulling away!

Why dont you just tell her the cars are completely in different leagues (£12000 vs £19-20000) and that if you had wanted a faster and nicer care than a focus (which tbh is not exactly unique) you'd have got an Octavia Vrs for the same money she has spent on her Focus...

Job done.

Then hump her, no matter what she looks like. Sounds like she needs it...

Sounds like you're being a bit of a pansy about it to be honest.

possibly, but then having to put up with it for hours on end is torture. I'd rather spend a week staring at a brickwall or dragged through a muddy field.

I would say driven both cars than the vrs is much more fun and faster. As said earlier in this thread foci do handle well and probably better than a stock VRS but not with a diesel in! My previous car was a 2.0 petrol focus, and that did handle very well. As far as the engines are concerned, the 1.8 diesel is bulletproof but ancient, the 1.6 diesel is trully awfull and the 2.0 diesel is a much more up to date engine but hasn't got the same boosty edge of the vrs lump! When you take this into consideration and the fact ford somehow feel they need to charge 20+k for it, the vrs would win hands down. Especially as you can by a very nice octavia for 20k! ;) which is in my view a different class to a focus!

possibly, but then having to put up with it for hours on end is torture.

I don't think describing it as "torture" is going to do anything to dispel the pansy vibe.

But the ford has kinetic design that makes it unique and looks like its going fast and it turns heads.....

At least thats what it says in the advert...

I just see one and think oh another focus zzzZZZZZ

My last car was a focus mk1 estate, excellent all round car and design was less boring than the present one in my opinion.

When i was looking for a new motor i ended up with a choice of focus saloon titanium or a fabia vrs or a Fiat Grande Punto 1.9diesel 130 Sporting.

The focus i decided was not sporty enough.

The fiat broke down on the test drive! Had to be taken back to the showroom by one of their mechanics in another car. Dealer told me that their staff must have put petrol in it and asked if i would come back the next day hahaha as if!

The fabia vrs though just made me instantly decide it was the right car after the test drive.

hahaha, torture because a GIRL told you her car was better than yours?

Working in a large office, I find there is a lot of willy waving and ****ing contests with cars but they soon shut up if you don't listen to them and get on with your work....or alternatively, just arrange a race around a local track :)

Take them all go karting and just keep lapping her there. Tell her no matter how many lightyears faster her car is driver skill will always prevail.

Or you could just ignore her and potentially buy her a ford keyring.

Or you could just ignore her and potentially buy her a ford keyring.

I would be careful about doing this, you may find that the previously said humping occurs if you do!!

If I was in your shoes I'd just ignore her or keep belittling her, or just ask her why she thinks you care about what car she has? Phrases such as "I like my car and you like yours, job done, what's the problem?" might come in handy as well!

In reference to the 'pansy' remarks from some people, I would say you sound very tolerable, which is highly commendable, because I'd have probably started wearin an ipod to work by now*, or just plain stopped listening to her!

* This could be another potential solution!!
