I'm putting this post up for a friend, He has an 04 plate VRS and has recently started to hear a ticking coming from somewhere near the front of the engine bay, perhaps around the air con unit. The tick isn't in time with the engine its constant whether idling or accelerating.

Another un-related fault he is suffering from is a loud clunk when he steers to the right.

Any help on either of these would be appreciated.

Have you or the owner checked under the bonnet for anything loose?

loud clonk could be console bush or ARB

Ticking?? Hmm flywheel perhaps?

The knocking will be the console bushes

you can uprate to solid bushes from an ibiza cupra

The ticking will be the headlight level adjustment motor faulty,
