You clean an EGR With?

Featured Replies

I need to clean out my EGR to make sure it really is fubared and not just clogged up as I've got no lights but it's leaking oil.

What should I clean it with though?

I've read people have used petrol? That can't do the seals any good though?

Carb cleaner?

I've never done anything like this before so really have no idea what to use... but I do know I don't wanna total it by using something to strong for the more delicate parts? That, and I don't have any petrol.

Thanks

Rob.

I cleaned mine with WD40 and lots of kitchen towel as I was worried abot seals too. It came up an absolute treat!

BTW..if it is foobared, would you be interested in an EGR delete?

I've already seen your other thread...

Compliments on the stealth selling technique :rofl: hehe!

I'm not sure on the Delete front.. I'd say I'm a no for now mate but thanks for the WD40 suggestion.

Anyone know of better then WD40? Or have any reason why WD40 might not be a good idea either? Seems logical to me though.

Haha, thanks

Okay :). No bother!

Think I used solvent cleaner (builders merchant type stuff) on a manifold recently (not mine thankfully has I have been EGR'less for 4+ years now!)

Just been searching the net...

Seems WD-40 isn't the best thing to use as it leaves a slight residue? Most people recommended Carb cleaner.

Carb Cleaner will work a treat ...

Dean

Your flat mates toothbrush or an old one :giggle: & WD40 does the trick.. very messy so pinch a few gloves from the petrol station next time you fuel up

Don't think a bit of WD40 residue will hurt when you think of how much oil vapour is sucked through the EGR from the crank case vent ;)

exactly...so disconnect the egr and do the ccv mod and vent it to atmosphere...best 2 mods you can do by far...
