Another happy Yeti owner

Featured Replies

Finally the loooooooooooong wait (since February 8th) is over - my Yeti was delivered today exactly one month after the original delivery date and two hours delayed from the agreed time, but anyway. The car is an 1.2 TSI Adventure (which translates to SE in the UK), and the only options ticked were electric rear windows and radio control buttons in the steering wheel. The color is Cappuccino Beige - the best color if you want to keep your car looking clean without having to wash it every day. I also ordered extra tinting foils to be added to the back door windows and the rear windows, but the dealer failed to put in the foils in the back door windows (this will be fixed later).

I have only driven around 130 Kilometers so far and mainly on highway and A-roads, but the car seem very quiet and stable on the road. Only on motorway speeds (120 KM/H) the wind noise is noticeable, but even then the engine will not be heard of. Also the fuel consumtion for a brand new engine isn't that bad - the MaxiDot showed 7.2 l/100km (39.2 MPG) as the average for today, but I will follow up the consumption.

Once I get some more kilometers driven and fillings up done the consumption can be viewed on this page: Fuel consumption data (if your not intimidated by the Finnish on the page)

The small turbocharged engine matched with the 7-speed DSG is really a lovely combination. The gear changes are really smooth, and if it weren't for the gear display it would be really hard to notice the gear changes. In careful driving the gearbox selects quite high gears, and it's really easy to drive without revving more than 2.5K without going too slowly. Amazingly much oomph in such a small engine! Leaving from total stops take some getting used to - I have been driving a manual 1.9 TDI Roomster for the past three years, and there is a bit of lag before you get going. But as said - it's only something that needs to get used to.

One thing that I noticed "moving" from a Roomster was that the Yeti does not have as much miscellanious storage space as the Roomster did - I am having a bit of a trouble fitting all my stuff into the Yeti. On the other hand - this means that I was driving around with too much stuff anyways :) The back seat with all it possibilities is familiar from the Roomster, so I know what the car is capable of.

Overall I'm very happy with the car, and I am looking forward to many years with this lovely car!

Great news that you have your Snow Monster Raz!!

Excellent choice of colour B) it has to be said :giggle: ...not that I am in any way biased

Look forward to seeing more good photos  and hearing more from you on your experiences with your Yeti

Best wishes

Lady Penelope :sun:

Congratulations on the delivery of your Snow Monster Raz. emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

It's a teriffic vehicle, I'm in no doubt of that. Really like the Muscovado colour and, I must admit, that would have been my choice of colour if I'd not gone for my favourite black.

Looks like a proper 4x4 should. Drives like a GTI and has all the bells and whistles of an SUV costing £10K more. What more could you wish for? emoticon-0178-rock.gif

Congrats! I am waiting for Yeti to be launched in India.

I have a Cappuccino Beige Fabia. It looks clean even without may days of cleaning.

I fully agree! It might not be the best looking color in the world (did anyone mention Muscovado...), but it really never looks too dirty. I traded in a Cappucino beige Roomster which I had for 3 years so I am familiar with the color. The color actually suits the Yeti better in real life than I had expected.

I'll post some more pictures once I get the rear door glasses sorted out, maybe in a month or so (I am also still missing winter tyres - yes, a must in Finland but not at this time of year - and the engine heater plug so these will all be fixed at the same time as soon as the dealer gets the tires)

Onnittelut! / Congrats! :thumbup::thumbup:

My 1.2DSG is now travelling somewhere between the Factory and Hanko free Port in Finland. :smirk: I would have couple of questions for you

- Do you have the rubber mats included with your Yeti or do they have to be purchased separately?

- Do you have any plans to get for the SM an extra anti corrosion treatment to slow down the negative effect caused by the salting of the roads?

- What is the brand and model of those 225/50 summer tires your SM was equipped with?

Enjoy your Yeti!

Kiitoksia/thanks!

- I had the rubber mats included, and did not need to purchase them extra. Obviosly also some sort of mud flaps are standard in Finland - I can try to get some more pictures of these later on

- I have not planned any extra anti corrosion treatment other than thorough cleaning and waxing spring and autumn and washing with something containing wax in between - that has worked for me so far. The modern cars are usually fairly well protected against corrosion anyway.

- the tires are Dunlop SP 01 (or something like that if I remember correctly). Nice and silent tires.

Update!

The exact brand of the tires is Dunlop SP Sport 01.

Here is a pic of the rubber mat:

and the front wheel mud flap:

As can be seen on the top pic I ordered the grey interior, and the lighter shade for the lower part of the dashboard - to me it makes the car feel a lot more spacious than all black interior.

Today I finally got the missing tinting foils, so the delivery is now complete. I'll post some pictures of the car with the complete tinting later on...

After 10 days and 700 kilometers I am as happy as can be with the car. Smooth ride, great engine, and I am starting to come to terms with the DSG as well (had some problems leaving standstills in the beginning). The first tank of fuel gave me a average consumtion of 36,7 mpg (7,7 l/100km), but I am sure this figure will impove over time. According to the onboard computer the consumption is already lower than last week.

This weekeend I'll go for a 900 km round trip with a friend to watch Drifting (no - there won't be any Yetis on the track), and then it's off to the cottage with a full load of 2 boys and whatever a family of 4 might need for 10 days in a cottage. It'll be interesting to see how we will get all the stuff to fit in the SM, this will be the first real comparison of carrying capacity in comparison to the Roomster.

The 900 km tour came and went, and I'm even more impressed by the Yeti now. Goes like a train at motorway speeds, quiet and comfortable ride (no problems driving 3 hours without breaks) averaged 7.2 l/100 km for the second tank on the car including 150 km of motorway speeds!

I even got to test the "off-road" capabilities of the FWD SM, and as long as the ground is not too soft or slippery the ground clearance means that also this car will go where most cars won't - even without 4WD:
