Got my 312mm Brakes fitted today

Featured Replies

Got my 312mm's fitted today. Bought calipers & carriers from Westlic on here and my garage sourced me some brand new OEM disks and pads. Whilst the car was up I had a oil and filter change as it was nearing a oil change (8k since last service - light had just come on)

As soon as I reversed out the car park I noticed how they bite almost instantly. The stopping power is great, but you don't need to plant your foot anymore, its just almost effortless to brake hard. I've only done around 50 miles on them but already fantastic!

A couple of things I do notice, when braking hard, you can feel the front end dip a little more and back end seems a little un-prescise - But I'm sure a anti-roll bar would cure this.

** Sorry for the dirty photos, didn't have time to clean it before taking photos! :D

ideally, what are they now? I've seen some prices around the £130~ mark? Do it make that much of a difference?

yes they do...£130 is the whiteline one...£200+ for jabba one...or £120 ish 2nd hand..

Any ideas whats the difference between the two mate?

1mm and three stiffness options on the whiteline. Although from what I've read on here, the whiteline isn't quite as stiff as the jabba bar. But whether the difference is worth £70+ is open to opinion...

I can't wait to get my Jabba RARB fitted, as many people say that it is the best single mod for the Fabia vRS :)

Thats more down to suspension in a straight line, although on a corner, the ARB will help to control the backend under braking (not that you should really be braking whilst cornering anyway....) You need a stiffer suspension setup to prevent the nose dipping under braking. :) I would recommend getting KW coilovers, or as a budget option, just eibach pro-kit springs on oem dampers.

They Do look Lurvely under a set of 16'S

Heh back end shenanigans! oh how I miss lift off oversteer.. It looks really good with the std alloy and beef'd up brakes set up! Yeah rarb makes alot of difference, never tried whiteline but jabba am rock 'ard... imo a little unforgiving with potholes, but brain automatically looks on the ground as much as look at other cars and pedestrians now

Personally I'd probably go with the whiteline just so that I had a choice

of settings. If I found the jabba too harsh then I'd either have to suffer it or

take it off again...

Gareth, is my mate taking care of all your powdercoating needs?

Hurry up and get the damn thing on man.... :p

Mark, Nice brakes mate... Am a bit gutted having just spunked the equivalent

amount of dosh on a new dmf and flywheel and fitting that I could have more happily

spent on a set of tyres, set of weitec shocks and springs and whiteline rarb....

And now I'm unemployed...

( and loving it  I sat there in my pants watching Jeremy Kyle the other day at 2 in the afternoon )

With the Mrs away my appearance is of little interest to me TBH :D :D :D

We are now down to one income so those things seem further away than ever what with buying houses and all.

Still the old banger made light work of the run to Bristol and back weds/thurs evening.

Just took it gentle ( honest....) and rode the whole way there on the cruise B)

80mph 6th gear about 2500rpm.

New clutch going in on Monday bringing the total spend on the furby this month to....

£727.31 :o

New Sachs clutch, dmf, and LUK concentric slave cylinder inc fitting £570.45p

OEM new style console bushes inc fitting.... £156.86

Can't help but think of all the fun stuff I could have bought with that dosh... :(

Wouldnt happen :giggle: its not to "harsh" - just a great bit of kit.

If money is no object then get the Jabba - its the better, thicker bar. and stiffer then the Whiteline even on its stiffest setting.

An ARB will probably help but IMO you've changed the braking balance or braking progression and that's the root of the symptoms/problem.

On the Eibachs (with std brakes) my car squats nicely under braking. I'd want to avoid the downhill skier position that the standard springs and dampers allowed the car to adopt. It made me feel like the car was stopping quicker due to the attitude, but actually, it wasn't.

Also IMO, you could get the rear brakes limiter adjusted to allow slightly more rear braking or ultimately, upgrade the rear brakes to suit.

J.

why stop at 312mm when you could do what one lad has done on his astra vxr and moded some audi RS6+ brakes only 390mm you only need 19inch alloys to clear them
