Removing rear door card

Featured Replies

Hi there,

One of the rear interior door handles doesn't work any more - you pull it and it doesn't do anything.

If anyone has any advice on how to remove the rear door card, would be greatly appreciated.

I'm assuming the cable/ linkage has popped off and just needs re-attached?

Cheers

Just giving this a go now, but I'm having a little trouble getting the window winder off.

Does the whole handle just pull off or does it seperate from the round plastic bit which is against the door card?

Cheers

Whole thing pulls off if I remember right. A friend got a bag strap caught around mine and left the car, taking the winder with it. Just pushed back on fine, so I assume it's designed to pull off.

The window winder is one of those things that's extremely easy to do when you know how, but you'll scratch your head for hours if you don't :) There's a collar behind the winder, grab this and pull it backwards from the handle, it should slide out a little - the handle can then be removed.

Edit: there's a video on youtube detailing how to do this, but as I'm on mobile internet at moment don't want video eating into my bandwidth. I'm sure if you search for something like skoda fabia door leak you'll find it eventually.

Ah, would explain why mine came off in the bag strap pulled the collar.

Maybe easy to do with some string then instead of using your hands?

Much obliged lads - watched the youtube video and was hugely surprised at how easy it comes off. :D

Right, it seems the interior door handle has been damaged so it no longer holds the end of the cable.

Am I able to buy a new interior door handle or do I need a whole new door card?

EDIT: Just answered my own question. I dread to think how much this handle bit costs. :S

Thanks again for all the help!
