making my mind up time!

Featured Replies

Ok, im a 20 year old lad driving a Furby vRS.

However, im currently on my mums insurance as i could not get insured when i was 19, what is the best route to go? Should i just stay on my mums insurance for a couple more years then bite the bullit or does it not work that way? Will i still not be able to be insured due to no NCB?

Start building your own NCD ASAP.

Use an online quote system (doesn't matter too much which one - it's the difference which should be important) to get a quote for a 21-yr old with and without 2 years NCD. Then have a think about the maths over the next years.

I did exactly the same and regretted it. Go for your own insurance asap and start building a decent NCD. I'm 32 no accidents etc but only have 4 years no claims for the very reason although from my mid 20's onwards the insurance was via SWMBO's policy....

Admiral used to sell a 10 month policy and would give you a full 1 yr NCD after the policy finished allowing you to build up no claims quicker.

I did 3 'years' (actually 2.5) with them and then went elsewhere. Wern't too expensive at the time (about 8 or 9yrs ago now though....)

Oh and when i eventually moved, i had no problem getting the new insurer to recognise the full 3 yrs discount.

More Than GAVE me one year's free when I first started with them. Give them a shout!

Although my wife hasn't passed her test (she was going to at some stage) she's been building up no-claim for years. We had two cars for a long time and we will do again soon (hopefully) once the Furby arrives. The Furby will be in my name and I'll sign the R100 over to her name and get her to pay for the insurance ;)

That way the premiums stay reasonable and we'll both build up that magic 5 year mark when you can get protected no-claim. That's when it really helps as I had a bit of damage to the R100 at some stage and I didn't loose my 70% discount ;)

Had the same problem with insurance being 19 and actually got mine in "error" as the status on the car is you must be 21 and held your license for 3 years, a bit worrying when it comes to re-newall be we shall see...

However as you are 21 next year i strongly recommend your own insurance whatever the cost, it will pay off in the future...

How can you build no-claims up for years without a full driving license? Am sure you cant build them on a provisional license?

Could be wrong though

Start your ncb asap. I was lucky with Reno under their free insurance deal in the way if I stayed with them for another year after the free insurance they would double my no claims :D

I regret not getting insurance of my own earlier. My first year I had a 2yr old Vectra SRi 140 to insure!!!! Not pleasant......could of had 7yrs NCB to use if I had taken the plunge, bit the bullet etc. :D

GO FOR IT...it's only expensive the first year, then you get 30%.

Sweet jesus!

You gotta speed it up

and then u gotta slow it down

cos if u believe that a love can hit the top

u gotta play around

and soon u will find that there comes a time for making ur mindup

u gotta turn it up

and then u gotta cool it down

u gotta be sure that its something everybodys gonna talk about

before u decide the times right for making ur mind up

dont let ur indecision take u from behind

trust ur inner vision

dont let others change ur mind

and now u really gotta burn it up

and make another fly by night

getta run for ur money

and take a chance

and itll turn out right

and when u see how its gotta be

ur making ur mind up!

and try to look as if u dont care less

but if u wanna see some more

then the rules of the game

will let u find the one ur looking for

and then u can show u think u know

that ur making ur mind up

dont let ur indecision take u from behind

trust ur inner vision

dont let others change ur mind

and now u really gotta speed it up

and then u gotta slow it down

cos if u believe that a love can hit the top

for making ur mind up

Holy moly!

I used a place called "screen trade.co.uk" or something?!

Adrian flux? is that a Mod specialist insurer?

Any contact details?

They are a mod specialist dealer... www.adrianflux.co.uk I did an online quote and in the "about your car" box (or something like that) told them all about remap etc... Get a quick email responce aswell (obviously must leave enough time for them to look at it etc as it isnt done automatically) But for my age I thought that qoute was alright
