6 Pot Brakes?

Featured Replies

yea but would they fit?

with a little bit of loce and care i cant see why they wouldnt fit, failing that start from scratch and make a system that is right for you

Short answer is probably no.

However, I want my brakes to work @ full power

It will require custom brackets, hoses, etc.

The bigger problem, I suspect, will be compatibility with the ABS and ESP controllers .... :o

The whole A4 platform use pretty much the same M/cylinder, and at 23mm is hardly "small", but as said the 6-pots, or even larger 4-pots, present a much larger piston area than OE, so causes issues somewhere along the way.

Saying that, even RS6 which come with jumbo 6-pot calipers as standard don't have a much larger m/cylinder (26mm from memory) . There's other things to consider too when it comes to "feel" and "bite" - the pad area is inevitably going to be much larger than OE, which is great for big stops to help dissipate the energy quicker, but doesn't do anything for low speed bite.

If it's weight you're worried about, it's proabably easier to loose it from the disc, even the 312mm ones are damn heavy..

This is an interesting thread......

I have never had these issues with mine..... The only problem I have is trying to stop my eye balls coming out of their sockets or bruising my collar bone when I lamp on the anchors!!!!

As said above, at low speeds they have an OEM feel, but the faster you go the better mine feel.

As well as rather large discs and callipers I'm running AP Racing dot 5.1 fluid, stainless hoses and Ferodo DS 2500 pads.

yes steve and rich are right, the other things to consider are the discs and pads, to save weight bells and rotors are the way ahead,

pad type will make a lot of difference too, ds2500 are really good pads that help with the 'bite' at lower speed.

Any MC will fit, given time/money, what is needed is an OE upgrade ie an s4/s6 setup, assuming it will physically fit of course.

As rich said, they arent much bigger, however the extra few mm's in size obviously works as see the size of some of the RS6 stuff, its insane!
