Its no good. After 15 months of driving my Jetta i am now dying to get my hands on another MX5. I may advertise my Jetta on here i don't know yet.

I am certainly going to get a MK1 this time though. Preferably a 1.8 special edition of some sort but condition will be the main factor. If i sell the Jetta i intend to get the wife a Fabia Estate Diesel and then treat myself to another 5.

So if anyone comes across an MX 5 for around 2k, let me know.

So much fun. I really like the Mk2 I had, but would probably try out a Mk1 if we getting another - just to see how it feels. Especially as it would be a weekend 2nd car, so stuff like cabin and boot size don't really matter

My last one was a MK2 RS Spec. Even when i had that i wished i had gone for a MK1. lol. My dad owns it now after selling his MK1 V-spec.

As for the MX5 .... they are hairdresser's cars but a lot of fun. Always wanted one but never bothered looking. Better still a Honda S2000.

Keep advertising swmbo's mx5 , but then when I could have sold it a few weeks ago I didn't as I needed it for the holidays, problem is if I do sell it I just don't know what would replace it without spending serious wonga, even if it is too small I quite like it.

Thats why i bought it. Love the colour and wheels. Its a good car tbh. Much nicer looking than a Golf. Its just not enough fun. When i got it last year i never missed the 5 during the summer seeing as the Jetta was still new to me. However this year i am missing the wind in my hair. lol.

S2000's are very nice. Thought about getting one to replace my old 5 but they are very expensive to run and also known as widow makers between myself and several colleagues. The MX5 gives you 90% of the S2000 IMHO without any of the drawbacks and at much less cost.

There is an 02 plate one going for 4K down the road from me.............

SWMBO had a 2000 Mk2 1.8 6-speed limited edition MX-5 in Mahogany Mica, pale leather interior, 40,000KMs, absolutely mint. Pics here. Purchased 2 years ago from a dealer for NZ$17,000 (8,000 pounds). Decided to trade the MX-5 plus my Subaru Outback in against a single new car. We were offered NZ$7,000 for the MX-5 as trade against a new Scout :no: . Told 'em to stick their offer where the sun don't shine and sold it privately in 3 days flat for...wait for it...NZ$17,000 Currently not missing it much, probably due to the fact it's the middle of winter and -2C outside as I type this, but come the summer, it might be different story. It was an exceptional example.
