auto dimming door mirrors

Featured Replies

i am considering replacing my octavia l&k estate with a superb estate. one of the features i like on the octy is having all the mirrors auto-dim.

it seems odd that even on the highest spec superb dimming mirrors are an option and it seems only possible to order a dimming interior mirror.

i think i would miss this feature. any comments?

retro-fit them? I did that to my Octy.

I agree it should be included on the Elegance (at least) i have added it on the Combi that i have ordered.

On page 77 of the manual it states:

"If you switch off the automatic dimming interior rear-view mirror, also the exterior mirror dimming is switched off."

So from that i assume the door mirrors will also dim?

For certain spec's of car and certain markets, then yes they will.

The manual is notoriously unclear and un-specific. It's the same manual that comes with each car regardless of the individual spec of each car.

when you did the retrofit keith was all the wiring present inside the mirror housing?

Having had these mirrors in previous Skodas I wouldn't bother - they're not the best at what they're supposed to do - they 'dim' more at a distance and often don't 'dim' when the idiot drives closer to your bumper. If you're thinking of a tint on your windows I'd go for that option and they'll do just a good a job!

No it wasn't there. I bought 2 mirrors from a scrapped L&K model and just swopped over the painted covers.
