evening all, am having trouble understanding what i need for the vrs. i need a roof rack or roof bar system for the occasional time i need to shift long bits of timber about etc. . . can someone point me in the right direction in terms of part numbers or systems that r for mk 1 vrs ocy. i think i need a set of mounting brackets that go in the mounting holes and then some bars to go into the brackets?

The OEM items are a pair of bars with integral fixings which use the points in the "gutter" (under the little plastic clips). Thule et al migth have a more modular system, with generic bars and slightly-more-tailored fixings supplied seperately.

I can take a photo of my OEM pair if it helps? Might even have a part number on them....
