Best way to contact skoda uk?

Featured Replies

hi im sure many of you know i have a fabia 2fl. A few weeks after delivery the parking sensors stopped working and so did the wipers (resulting in a call to vw assit).

The wipers have been fixed but i'm still waiting for the parking sensors to arrive. To be honest i'm getting a little sick of waiting as what was a brand new car as been fully working for only a few days and has spent the vast majority of the 6 weeks odd of ownership broken. The dealer who are normally quite helpful keep telling me their waiting for parts. I cant believe if their knocking fabia elegances out so quickly there arent parts available to fit within a few days of delivery. I could understand itif it were a second hand car that was 3 or so years old but this was a brand new car.

So, does anyone know the best way/method of of contacting skoda uk or their area managers?

Thanks

Ben

Hi Ben,

used their e-mail service a few times over the last year or two, response time has varied from next day to 3 weeks :S There's also a phone number given on the SUK site, although I've not tried this myself.

My link

Hope you get your problems resolved quickly.

Regards,

TP

Post a few messages on here regarding mods along with your reg and they will be in touch with you.....

Unfortunately have been in contact with them myself over our new Fabia. Used an email initially and followed up with a phone call. First person I spoke to was useless and told me it was taking three days to process emails, I explained my complaint and they said they would get back to me later that day, they didnt. When I called back the second time got an excellent response.

Your wiper fault could have been a nasty one if had happened on the motorway in driving rain. If you make them understand that then you should hopefully make some progress. Have you tried to reject the car through the stealership. I once did this on a Golf GTI and the dealer offered a compromise that if I had another fault they would order me a new one with more options, of course it never missed a beat from that time on!

When i had a problem that was proving difficult for the Dealership to solve, i filled in the on-line 'contact us' on the SUK website asking what i should do as the dealer couldn't fix the fault under warranty, then i started a thread on here & explained what progress my dealership had made in rectifying the problem & also to see if anyone had experienced similar problems. THEN i spoke to the MD of the dealership & e-mailed him a link to the thread i'd started.

Next day, Service Manager calls & my car goes in the following day & lo & behold problem was identified & fixed that same day. E-mailed MD to say thanks & publically thanked Dealership in the thread i'd started........ worked for me.....

Good Luck

John

You could try this number, this lady was prompt at returning an E-mail enquiry from me as well,

Thanks guys. I will ring them tomorrow as i cant fit a decent description of the problems in the 1000 characters the website form allows you.

I'm going to go with carrier pigeon.

Is it just a coincidence that they are called SUK? :giggle:

Hi Ben,

Sorry to hear about your woe's. This should be cleared up fairly quickly I would have thought. However, a couple of things...and please don't take umbridge as I do understand how frustrating this is for you. But...notice how quickly your wipers were fixed. They are a very important item for your car and your safety. A major part of the car, and a legal requirement for you to drive it. It's a bit like, for example, your suspension or brakes, or many other engine components. You have got to have them to stay on the road. These are high priority parts and are plentiful...Skoda makes sure of that so you are not off the road for any longer than necessary. On the whole Skoda UK exceeds most peoples expectations in that respect. But when it comes to non critical items such as parking sensors (the car goes ok without them), then some variation on delivery will exist if they are not on the shelf at the time you require them. All manufacturers suffer this occasionally. I doubt Skoda makes it's own sensors and it will buy these in and this is often when the delays occur. With the best will in the world, manufacturer cannot account for every event, and sometimes are beyond their control anyway. The result is we understandably get frustrated especially when the car is new and you want it to be perfect. But hang in there. By the way, I don't work for Skoda or any of their dealers, but I have seen the situation from everyside in my time as a technician. Contack Skoda UK and I'm sure they will do all they can to help.

I would say in the end Skoda UK did exceed my expectations. Mine was a safety fault as well and once they grasped the seriousness of it they took the correct action.

In the past I have had dealings with VW customer service following an engine failure on a new car and they were not as good as Skoda even though they are the same company.

Having said that a wiper fault should not really happen on a new car. As mentioned it is a safety feature and they should treat it seriously if only to ensure it doesn't lead to a major legal exposure in the event of it happening and leading to a death/ major injury. If the dealer brushed it off you really should be considering if you want to use them for service in the future and letting them know that.

Agree the parking sensors are not critical but you did pay for them and I can't believe they can't get a part. Again are you sure the dealer is trying hard to get the part for you?

My wipers don't work properly. a good 40% of the time they just wont work. I posted this on a separate thread. It ended up the other week with a call to VW assist who found a fault code on their VAGCOM machine but skoda can't find anything. I have found a successful way to drive without the wipers though.

If it were just the parking sensors i would be a little more forgiving but still almost 7 weeks after delivery the car has worked perfectly for all of a few days. If i brought a TV and the volume didnt work i'd expect it sorted or replaced ASAP. The ball is in Skoda and the dealer court now as we have a Octavia VRS on order and won't be collecting until the Fabia is sorted.

Hi Ben, I see. But you stated the wipers were fixed when you started this thread. Have they gone wrong again?...or were they not fixed properly in the first instance?...or could they just not find anything wrong? Either way, that's not acceptable and there are things the dealer could be doing I would have thought. First is to give you a loan car whilst their guys look with their eyes (not just the computer) to try to find the elusive fault. This is probably something really simple to fix but does require someone to look for a faulty connection or something such as that. At the very least the dealer needs the car to try to duplicate the fault which, if as you say the wipers don't work for 40% of the time, shouldn't prove difficult. They could substitute the wiper switch for another (switches account for many problems of this kind) to see what difference that makes...and of course if their computer suddenly shows a fault then you are home and dry. That's the sort of thing we did in the workshop anyway. You cannot drive a car without properly working wipers as Skoda UK will reiterate. Good luck. Do let us all know what transpires.

Sorry just noticed my mistake on the first post. What i should of said were at the time they wouldnt move at all. Now they work i would say 60-70% of the time. The remaining 30-40% of the time they wont start when you turn them on. To get them working you have to pull over, turn off the engine and then start it up again and then all works fine. Its so frustrating that i can't demonstrate this to skoda as sods law they work first time when i get to the showroom.

Maybe use your phone to video the fault with the wipers?

Thats' a good idea Blu! It does sound like a typical switch problem Ben, although it could still be an intermittent motor fault. These switches cost hundreds of pounds and normally last the life of the car. But your dealer might like to swap it over with one from a second hand car or a car from the showroom (prior to ordering you a new one) to make a diagnosis as switch faults don't always show up on a computer check. It depends on what is wrong with the switch. Please keep us all informed.

Good luck Ben. ;);)

I should have a call back from SUK by 12pm today if not i'll ring them back. They have two options i guess to fix my car or order me a new one, i don't care which. Lets just say we wont be collecting the VRS until this one is sorted.

Good luck
