19" alloys

Featured Replies

What is the max size of the alloys and tyres can be fitted on to Octy2 ?

Is 235/35 R19 to big physically ?

That size tyre is way to big, I had 235 wide tyres on my old octy for a while and they rubbed the rear arches on uneven road surfaces. 225's are about as wide as you can go.

Ok , thanks!

Theres a previous thread with an Octy 2 on 20" rims, the tyres look like rubber bands though..

The tyre size, wheel width, wheel offset and how you use the car (do you want to lower it, do you regularly carry large loads) all need to be considered. 235/35/R19 on an 8J works at an ET50 offset, but not much lower.

I am suprised that a 235 is considered to wide, after all there are members running with 15-20mm spacers on 225 tyres without rubbing, so in theory you could run up to a 245? providing the wheel offset and wheel width equate similiarly to the standard rim, ( e.g the inside of the rim is the same as standard moving the outside a farther 20mm).

Does that make sense? Because I think I'm confused.

Fit 18" Alloys today with 225/40/R18 BF Goodrich g-Force Profiler

After 15" difference is very noticeable.

BBS CH reps? Look nice, but I would await Picard pics.....

WTF you all on about? 235 35 R19 fits perfectly fine on the mk2 octavia no problems at all.

Good point well made. Sorry, I posted that via my iPhone and thought I saw it more than once.

235 35 19 is an officially approved size for the 1Z Octavia, as is 225 35 19.

The problem with the 225s is that it will not have the appropriate load index (and in Germany they are very strict with the load index)

With 235 there is a statement that the speedometer should be checked.

What width and ET are you talking of?

Here's mine on 19's with 235 35 19 tyres - all fine so far

To be fair, it will depend on the wheel width and offset that's being used...

Well I'm running 245/40 R 18 on my Scout, and shortly to change to 245/45 R18 allroad homologated tyres. No problems so far (OK, its got more space than other Octavias),and I can't believe that the extra 7mm radius is going to be that much of a problem. I know they're not 19s, but they're currently larger than 235/35 R 19s, just with more free space around them.

I love those wheels.................. :envy:

The only problem with running 19's is it makes the standard vRS brakes look tinny winny!!
