Help with giggles in the vrs

Featured Replies

Hi again guys,

Before you say, I have used the search bar, but topics are old and not specific to my problems.

Firstly, my clutch seems to occasionly squeak on press and depress. It feels like it squeaks when it 'bites' but it could be anytime really! It doesn't sound like a knocking sound. It only happens in gear aswell.

Secondly, there's seems to be a squeak coming from the rear of my car over bumps. I have ideas but am not sure!

The 1st fan setting doesn't work, this is probably the regulator, but other suggestions would be helpful.

It is also worth adding that before last Friday, the car probably hadn't been properly driven for at least a month, and seen no water or moisture.

Any help would be muchly appreciated! :)

earplugs?

The fan issue is a resistor pack.

Order Part +/- £40

Drop glove box

scrape knuckles (alot)

replace resistor pack

Re-fit glove box

earplugs?

fail

I can't speak for a squeeky clutch on my vRS but can speak of a similar issue on my previous car. Turned out it needed Lubricating at the pedal. there was a spring mechanism that needed lubing.

Squeeking going over bumps could be worn Anti roll bar bushes or possibly even rear console bushes. Both of these have a habit of failing every so often.

Have you tried pushing down on the suspension at each corner to see if it makes that noise stationary? have you tried grabbing hold of the exhaust and trying to move it to see if it could be loose?

fail

Yes mate, agreed and very well said, the OP asks a simple question and gets a stupid 'clever' answer. Fail indeed. Thats why so many members don't bother posting anymore................. they just read and giggle. (just noticed the username too, quite apt - lmao!)

Arb bushes normally creak more than squeak, but open the bonnet and push hard up and down on the front bar between the lights so the front bounces up and down... if its the arb bushes, you should hear them!

/attempts to get back on topic: lube on the clutch seems like a good idea also newskoda seems to be spot on with the squeak from the rear probably causes to :)

As for the fan control - I don't know about that one :(

"giggles" ?? You need to stop carrying passengers who are good at telling jokes. ;)

Thanks for the reply!

This sounds very novice, but where would I lubricate the clutch?

I have previously thought it is the bushes, however the sort of squeaky/creaky sound seems to be coming from inside the cabin, maybe from the seats or panels? Any fixes for this?

I am being quite picky but I spent alot of money on the car, and just want it to be running perfect :)

You will probably have to get into the footwell upside down. Its not a nice experience and my advice is be careful with your back. Stick a flash light up there and have a poke around.

You should also lube the seat bolts. Use PTFE spray. Worked well on mine and got rid of the creaks from both seats.

Turn your steering wheel to full lock to expose the front wheel and lube away at the drop links(wont do any harm)

Get into it upside down!? Could you not just lube the actual clutch pedal?

Would the PTFE spray (no nonsense brand i assume) be ok from all clutch, drop links and seat bolts? Guessing you can buy it from such shops as halfords?

he means lie on your back and so you can look up...use ptfe/wd40 and spray the clutch pedal pivoting points...drop links wont squeak....my car squeaks/groans from back end when im getting in...cant hear it whilst driving...it will almost certainly be dry bushes (dry rubber rubbing against metal)..only real solution will be get the car on ramps and lubricate the bushes/holding points...

One of the big recurring problems with the vRS is that creaks, squeeks and rattles, sometimes randomly. :giggle: no matter how many parts you change it will still make a noise from somewhere.

I found even the jack in the boot knocks about a bit and the plastic trim in the boot isn't all that secure and occasionally makes a noise. Had to stick some bluetack over it to absorb the noise.

Cheers for prompt responses,

Ok I will get onto the clutch tonight, and see if it helps atall. Got a feeling it could be something else though, because it only ever sqeuaks occasionly in gear.

Until i can get to the bushes, will i be causing the car any damage, or is it literally just an annoying side affect?

Same with the regulator, is that ok to be left for a while, fan speed 2-4 still work so until they go i have no plan to fix that.

Thanks for all the help guys.

wont do any more harm so no panic...B)
