Road works

Featured Replies

just got home to find a letter saying that my road is going to be resurfaced and it will take 3 weeks to complete and between 9am and 6pm i will not be able to get my car out of my drive and will need to park outside the blocked off area the road is 3 miles fooking long and there doing the whole thing it also added that at some points i wont be able to access my drive at all FFS and to top it off im not even at work 9-6 im a senior support worker so im in and out all fooking day

that sucks !!

surprised that there doing it all in one go and not bit by bit !

looks like youll have to do alot of walking :(

but think of it this way !!

when its done youll have a lovely new road surface to tear up in your car ;)

Ouch :( thought i had it bad... closed my road to work for 5 days to resurface... only other route adds about 15 mins onto my 45 minute journey!

Worst bit was they only patched bits up, hope they at least do a proper job on yours mate

that crud is the devil !! i cringe every time i drive my car over hideous surfaces like that

10mph jobby !!

cause lots of traffic B)

Oh dear. :( You'd have thought they'd have done it in chunks/sides ... they did one of the roads in town like that, outside of peak hours ...

That stuff's evil ... when they resurfaced a road near me in March, they used that stuff (and also didn't sweep the excess off - not fun when there's idiots doing 30-40mph the other way and all you can hear is "ping ping ping"). Now there's none left on the bit I normally drive on - it's all worn off. Up the other end, there's a section where everyone's left wheel goes that's worn off (but not on the other side), which is a bit hairy as it makes the steering jump around a bit, and it's at the start of a 60mph limit, just on the exit of a bend where you'd be looking to start to accelerate. It makes the road noise a lot worse too. :(

What a crock! The amount we pay for motoring you'd think our roads would be the best in the world. I detest that fricking gravel ****. Noisy pointless waste of time. You'd think they'd realise by now if the stopped doing ****ty little patch works and actually resurfaced a whole stretch it might last a whole lotlonger. Cos as we all know, patches just turn into potholes again in weeks.

Rant over.

and once the start relaying im told it will be chippings so i can kiss my paint work good bye and picking my way through the raised man holes is no fun when its dark

It's cheaper to do lengths of road in one go and the loose chippings idea also cuts down on cost. In the end you will have a decent road surface and save on your Council Tax bill. Well thats the theory. May I suggest a bonnet bra for these traumatic times.
