Got another picture featured on a website

Featured Replies

I submitted a few of my Landscape images to the interfacelift.com computer / netbook / phone wallpaper site and my Hope Valley image has been voted to be the image of the day for July 5th. :):):):) Well chuffed as the image picked was one of the one's i really liked. It's started a heated debate on the image's comments page about over arty style HDR images.... Think i'll get my hard hat before wading in and adding any comments myself.

It's the second time one of my images has been used. The other was quite a while ago.

Cheers

Dave.

Nice mate.

This isn't just this about this shot, but more HDR in general - I'm getting a bit tired of it. I keep doing HDRs and just scrapping them. In your pic, I like the rocks and closer trees, but the sky's not quite right for me. A few other people commented the same thing on interfacelift.com.

Have you got a link Davey ?

Nice shot btw Mr. Wavey. Know that area quite well, there's some stunning scenery around there and up near Dore moore and a few good climbs too. If you're in the area again the pub on the bend as you go into Hathersage does an awesome Sunday carvery ... although half the time I didn't stop to look at the landscape, instead I was trying to beat my personal best over the snake.

Congrats on the photo submission.

Thanks for the link

I think a lot boils down to the old art v photography argument

From a personal point of view, a photograph should be judged in a photography competition exactly as it was taken, without any subsequent jiggery-pokery with any additional fancy software. The quality of a good photograph should be down to the photographer's ability to use the camera and it's settings, not the technician's ability to play about with it to make it better afterwards IMHO

Having said that, Davey, as an image it's very good - would love to be able to see the original side by side though, just to see how much it's been doctored

I know what you're saying guys.... It's a lot more over done than i usually go for. The other HDR images in that set were a lot more toned down but i thought i'd go for something different with this one. I wonder if any of the other images from that set which i also put up for voting on that site will get voted through too??? (They're in my Landscape thread on here).

I'll post up the untouched picture later tonight.

Cheers

Right back at you, two pseudo HDR versions. Just wondered what this HDR software I'm using is like.

Good versions. What software is it you used?

Wasn't trying to top your original or anything, that has a lot more contrast throughout, but was interested how software would interpret HDR from a flat image. The software was Dynamic Photo HDR.

Well looking through the comments that people have said about it on interfacelift.com it's a definate LOVE/HATE picture there's no middle ground at all.

It's had 40,000 downloads in it's first two days though so i'm happy it's pleased some people. :)

Cheers

Dave.
