Engine mount problems.

Featured Replies

Hi,

If any of you reading this are regular forum readers, you may know that i have been complaining of a 'squeaking' sound coming from my fabia vrs since i owned it.

After more time at the wheel, i am now pretty sure its an engine mounting (however my parcel shelf moans aswell!). I think its an engine mounting because the noise occurs when applying throttle, HEAVY sudden breaking, and when i change gear, at the bite point (if its not a smooth change).

Could someone please say if they think ive got the problem right? Secondly, if I can lube up any part of the mount (and how and where to do that), or if this wont work, the cost of changing it at a garage. I have searched and found some tips, but need some present day info. and help.

Thanks :)

Hi,

Have a look at the dogbone mount. It would give all the symptoms you describe. It can look OK but get weak. Easy and cheap to replace. Best of luck.

Had similar symptoms last year.

Changed the dog-bone mount and the noise disappeared. What was quite worrying was the amount of movement the engine had with the old mount, all that torque going to waste!

Cheers guys.

Any idea of the part number and price? Im also not very handy with a spanner so would probably have to put it into a garage.

Thanks.
