remap for octavia 2

Featured Replies

Hi,recently purchased a 2006 blue Octavia rs after having my beloved red un written off by a lunatic deciding to drive on my side of the road after flying round a left hander :( I had a remap on the old one but was never completely happy with it as the power delivery was not smooth. my mistake i now know was to go for a cheap? generic map £275 and have it done on the driveway! can anyone point me in the direction of a reputable place where they can sort it for me? advice recieved lately tends to be dont go for generic mapping and always have it on the rolling road to make sure it offers the gains you want? cheers folks :smirk:

Ben (Shark Performance) seems to have excellent reviews on here, doesn't use a rolling road though. He also has the STS handset so you can set it back to standard tune at any point...

Hi

Don't get tied up with this "generic" and "custom" remapping stuff, the terms are too amiguous to actually mean anything. We don't have a rolling road here but I assure you that we do a hell of a lot of custom tuning :)

If you have a look around the forum you will hopefully see that we have some good reviews and happy customers, I guess it also helps that I have an Octavia II vRS myself

We're in Mansfield and you're welcome to come down and try the map on your car before you buy.

Cheers

Cheers Ben have trawled thru the forum and your reviews sound promising! I am only an hour away and am looking between 21st and 25th of this month to pay you a visit but obviously will contact you when I know for def which days I am off work, thanks again for the info and advice emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Have you seen the remap poll thread here for the most popular options:

Remap Poll Thread

Some companies will use the term 'custom remap' because they have to manually finish the new program, whereas on older vehicles they could use a single generic program that they could flash on all cars with the same engine config. That said, a true custom remap on an Octavia will only be worthwhile if you've got other modifications (i.e. exhaust and intake upgrades minimum).

As for price, the more expensive ones will say you get what you pay for...but then there is a very well known tuner who suggest a Stage 1 remap will get a rather ambitious extra 55bhp out of 2.0 TFSi engine if you pay them £580. Many threads on here would suggest you don't always get what you pay for in that respect and the figure is closer to 30bhp.

Different maps also tend to have different torque delivery with some spikey at the lower range while others are smoother. Depends what you'd like it to do I suppose, as long as your happy with it (and ignore the advertised performance figures...they typically mean squat)!

interesting advice mate thanks for that, the remap poll thread was a good place to start as well nice one! i currently have no other engine mods and would ideally like an extra 30-40bhp and a tourquier? smooth power delivery dont want any "spikes" as they always come with dips in my experience so smooth torquey delivery is the one for me

Chipboost which isn't that far from you do a great job and offer a choice of maps.

Buy from a reputable tuner is my advice. ignore the price, buy quality

You will struggle to find anyone who is not 100% happy with Chipboost; you can always pay him double if it is too cheap.

how many guys have used him on here or any other TFSI or TSI orientated VAG forum. ive been using the GTI, SCN and this forum for years and have never heard of them. for that reason alone id never touch them.

Revo or Shark, ive got a revo on my octy and i am well inpressed but i know Ben who owns Sharkperformance and ive driven his car a few times and thats very good, Either would be a good option.

My Fabia VRS was tuned by Chipboost and it was an excellent map. It never put a foot wrong in 4 years and 50,000 miles and the clutch did not slip, as is common with Fabia VRS when remapped. I went with Shark as it offered what I wanted. An excellent map which was smooth and the STS unit. Plus he was based where I work, which was even better :) Even if he wasnt, Id have travelled to get the product from Shark its that good!

Ive always used Jabba, they have done a few cars for me as well as some serious modding so I know there knowledge base is good & they can map from basics
