Coilover Problems!

Featured Replies

Any joy with suspension problems in the past - ie similar to ours?

The only problem I have had with the coilovers are the leaking rear dampers but they being replaced.

If anyone is complaining of squeaking at low speeds on the front, can you replicate it by bouncing the front of the car? I may have a solution for you.

naa that will be shocks not springs...... we have a knocking as the top spring is not located.

Ad Lav. the only thing you have to play them against is why they have not get them to work below the TUV range. im am trying my paitence to get mine sored but they are being a bunch of ******

Kw Stock The Helper Spring........

He would just like conformation this would be the correct one - 20Nm seems a little low?

20-60-80 which means 20 Nm of power, 60mm spring id and 80mm long

Would you say this is correct?

are any coilies red in colour? i think i have some on the car i recently bought but i think there too low for me!

AP are Blue

Weitec are Green or Yellow

KW are Purple or Yellow

Think Eibach and VMaxx use Red springs!

Off to supplying dealer tomorrow for a full suspension check to find out what is the problem! :)

Will post my findings tomorrow!

And Eibach get there shocks from KW they just wrap there springs round them.

(learnt that with my discussions with KW)

Mine are 330mm from center cap to arch front and back....You are 320mm and they said that's out of warranty. I am apparently on the warranty line for the fronts and 5mm away from it on the rear.

Raised mine to 335mm and still knocking like a b!4tch!

What's the cure for spring boing noise? :)

Never had these problems on my fabias, kw all the way, never had a problem with a car on kw's, buy cheap buy twice allways remember that. Didn't ross write a guide on how to stop them making noise?

Your right!!

You replaced the top mounts and made sure you put the bearing and nut the right way?

Top mounts were replaced under warranty when I bought the car. As we took the top mount etc off we put the bits in the order they came off back on etc so I should think so!

mine is 320mm all round which is within TUV too..... just to make matters worse Rear shock is leaking now! :'(

You are 5mm out mate - its 325mm :)

But My 'A' Measurement is correct and within TUV. Mount to bottom of spring.

Min - 225mm

Max - 250mm

Mine - 230mm

The Gap Between Wheel Center and arch cannot really be used for front or rear as if you are on a camber then the half on the car on the outside of the road wont be level....... the problem lies with measurement 'A' the position of the Spring adjuster to the top of the spring, which can be worked out by measurement 'A'

Had my APs on for nearly 6 months now. Mine started knocking after a month or so, I went down the same route but no amount of lifting/dropping the springs cured it. Turned out to be the CV joint nut had worked loose even tho I'd used plenty of loctite on it. New ones from a dealer and problem solved

Just got back from GWerks - turns out it could be the springs knocking on eachother - the above coil compressing and knocking on the coil below etc.

Ordering in some rubber things that go over the spring to see if this works as KW have them on from standard - could be the answer.

If not, they have asked to use my car as a demo for suspension treatment!

Got ya!

So The spring is located propperly, its the compression of the coils hitting each other?

so if i wedge some foam between the top coil and next one down should stop that?

KW did say this is a new P/N for 2010.

How Long till they turn up and fit them?

good work guys ! mine arent that bad really [touch wood] but keep me informed as if it works i might aswell do it emoticon-0144-nod.gif

cheers mark emoticon-0148-yes.gif

So the theory of raising the car up means these 2 coils are constantly in contact with unsprung weight too......

So again Helpersprings are the better option. as currently the spring has more movent than 'recomended'

I can't understand why one of the spring manufacturers (Eibach/H&R etc) don't make a spring that will drop a VRS about 50mm. I know some people want to slam theirs and for that coilovers is the obvious solution, but from what I've read most people don't like the amount of drop (25-30mm) that most manufacturers offer.

It would save the hassles assosciated with coilovers if you could buy a spring and shock kit that gave a decent drop.

Well what can i say............ after emailing last night with the situation of my rear shock we have had NO comunication from KW.

Even Damian from DPM has been on the blower to tak to them and it just rings out........ im really not happy........ i would say im high and dry but i have sus fluid everywhere!

Lol, is this thread still going!!! As said previously, you pay cheap you pay twice!! Hope all you guys get your problems sorted.
