Squeal when coasting

Featured Replies

Mrs Jamesemt's Fabia has got a squeal/hum type noise on the right side when coasting very very slowly - most noticeable in heavy traffic. I've tried doing a search...

Anyone else got this? - only ever heard it at about 5mph, and the mrs doesn't notice it as it doesn't seem to last long...any ideas?

Yep Mrs Rondo's has this noise. Minor squeak at low speed that picks up with wheel speed but on her's it's on the left side.

Been back to the dealer countless times but nothing fixes it. We leave the dealer and the noise ain't there but two days later back it comes. Comes form the rear passenger side wheel only at low speed and therefore only really noticiable when crawling in heavy traffic. Occasionally notice it when pulling away from lights etc

It seems to be worse when there is someone sitting on that side of the car i.e. if just the driver it's not as bad

Unfortunately as I sit on the squeaky side, it's always there :thumbdwn:

I would strongly suspect the noise you are referring to is the issue covered in this thread:

Just a theory, but my guess as to why it goes away for a day or two afterwards is that they strip down and clean up the calipers, which was the old solution for this problem, but doesn't seem to permanently fix it, just makes it go away for a short while. Check the other thread, a solution is in the pipeline...

Has anyone with this problem tried emergency stopping from 3 figures? That would certainly clean any crap off the pads...

Or just apply the handbrake whilst moving at speed... lol
