charged air feed?

Featured Replies

what is this? how does it work? is it worth it?

cheers rich,

Normally referred to as forced induction i.e. turbo charged or super charged. A means of forcing pressurized air into the engine. More air = more power.

Unless you're talking about something else.

they say it on hte amd site but they also talk about the power loss if the intake air tem is more than 20c???? blumin lost now!! i dont want to loose power from just not getting the right airfeed to a vrs octavia! sound right?

The disadvantage with forced induction, is that the charged air will become hot. Hot air will lose you power. Intercoolers & chargecoolers try to cool down the intake temps for better power.

Do i therefore surmise correctly that a stock TDI PD130 will suffer with air temps, hence the group buys on FMIC's?

Question is, will the FMIC used on the Fabia fit a VW Passat? :rubchin:

The PD 130 engines have a side mounted IC. I believe this is sufficient to cool down the charged air.

Diesel engines do not suffer from heat soak as much as petrol engines.

If you start modifying & increase boost, the OEM IC may not become efficient enough.
