Not happy with MOT refusal !

Featured Replies

Some of you are so far up ur high horse I can't see you! Lots of people tint lights, as long as they are visible in the DAY (the light is harder to see in the day, suprised none of you do gooders never said), then there's not a issue. Vwcab, there's lots of people with tinting film on there headlights, go have a rant at them. No one has even seen the lights, plenty do it, and if it past last year then it's clearly (< ha pun) not that bad. Go back under ur anti modding rocks

You have missed the point. The point isn't that they are modded. The point is the guy who is in the position to say they are road legal, said they were not despite the opinions to the opposite. It's was a discussion about why that may be the case and that is the real point. Makes no difference if anyone has seen them at all, thats the reality of the situation as thats what has been posted and now they are not covered in paint they pass. Odd that. Regardless of who else does it and why they do it and how they do it, these failed because the tester decided that the paint on the lights made the lights too poorly visable which is what the discussion was about, not about to mod or not to mod.

Funny how all the MOT testers who have contributed have said the same things.

Hope your space under your rock is still warm.

I'd much rather take my car to a dealer that does it properly instead of some dodgy back street garage that probably wont even check anything and just hand over the certificate !

No dodgy **** for me thank you very much !

Love this last line  , if you dont like dodgy dont drive about with dodgy painted lights  :dull:

The MOT test isn't specifically anti modding, but if for one minute the modders thought about the regulations that are there for other peoples safety as well as their own, there may be fewer accidents and insurance claims.

Yesterday I saw a broken down Polo at a busy junction, lowered, non standard wheels, it looked quite good. I did think of helping the driver push it out of the way until I saw the red tinted rear lights, and the hazards flashing alot more red than orange. I then remembered this thread and the plain rudeness shown in it and thought sod it, I'll get into work in time to have a cuppa before I start.

MOT testing is tough, the penalties for getting it wrong are severe for both the individual and the employer.

The "dodgy" lights were on the car when I bought it !

The light from the bulbs were perfectly visible day and night, the issue was the reflectors were not fully visible which was why they failed it !

i would just but some approved titnted lights.

something like these http://www.m-99.co.uk/Lexus_Lights/Skoda/fabia_black.jpg ?

LMFAO no thanks !

The lights are back to standard now
